Pinterest: A Look Back and Now! (2012 - 2015) : Update 2016 : Affiliate Links are Allowed

This post was published here January 13th, 2016.

Having been active on Pinterest since it began, it has been interesting to watch the social media site evolve and quickly gain a footing right next to the established giants like Facebook and Twitter, and carve out their lion's share.

When this content was published, Pinterest had banned the use of affiliate links.

That was then.  This is now.

Here's a great article for work at home mom, written by a work at home dad.

The Bing Bing BUY Button | Writedge (Tips for the Home Biz Entrepreneur)

This blog post supplies a summary update to my article The Bing Bing BUY Button | Writedge which was published July 2015.  The update is a contrast and comparison to my Pinterest experience.

Although The Bing Bing site has a lot of good features, it falls way behind Pinterest in search engine ranking. Pinterest has introduced “RichPins” (same as The Bing Bing Buy button), they allow users to convert personal accounts to business accounts, and account holders can also “Promote Pins”.  For this reason, as a home biz entrepreneur, most of my social media marketing efforts are devoted to maintaining my Pinterest profile.

Create Web Page with Netboard.me | Writedge is a related or similar article published March 2015 about another site which was presented as a Pinterest alternative.  Though the features of Netboard are different from The Bing Bing, the above update results in me making the same decision to choose Pinterest.

Cool Down Up North - Dee's Dialogue - maa organics (Reblog)

Shared this lovely image (below) via Pinterest years back. Was reviewing some of my pins to my board for general healthcare and came across this one. The link had changed which sent me into full blown panic mode!  (Right.  A shared pin on how to relieve stress and I'm freaking out!) Searched for this diligently and found it. Corrected the original source link for my pin but as an added step and blogged this post. Don't want to lose it again! Australia is on my bucket list of Places I'd to Go and if I ever get there, will have to visit Tropical North Queensland. :)

FYI. The link that had changed led me to this nice lady's new blog maa organics. Fortunately her posts from her old blog were still available to the public. Love both blogs!! They're absolutely fabulous!

My Twitter Weekend Wrap-Up

Paper.li is a tool that helps you publish your own online newspaper. How cool is that? You can create and publish your very own "Daily Planet" with news items of interest to you that might be of interest to other readers also.

So far I've generated four different papers - covering topics like freelance writing, Pinterest, home business or work at home articles, tips, etc.

paper.li logoUsing the Paper.li publishing tool, each week (set to the date to every Sunday), a newspaper is published which summarizes my Twitter activity - not all, just some highlights.

This week's publication for Sunday, April 26, these are the headlines:

  • 10 Businesses You Can Run from Anywhere on Earth (And Start Today)
  • Confessions of a Cookbook Collector
  • Naples: The Birthplace of the Modern Pizza
  • Citrine Earrings
  • The Best Thai in Middle Tennessee

You an also look at some of the previously published editions by clicking on the Archives. They aren't all Sunday editions. Tried different days and then finally settled on Sunday mornings. You can subscribe to receive weekly updates via eMail, if you like.

How Pinterest Uses Your Content Without Violating Copyright Laws

How Pinterest Uses Your Content Without Violating Copyright Laws

  • Pinterest, the increasingly popular pinboarding social network, is able to present a visually arresting interface in large part by using copyrighted images pinned by users.  "It's a huge concern for creative bloggers," said Amy Anderson, who blogs on the arts and crafts site Crafter Minds. "I don't think Pinterest does anything to help protect copyright besides removing content when people ask."
