5 don'ts for promoting your blog (Reblog)
A look back. Revisiting sites where I found valuable information when I first started my blogging adventures. It is good to know this site still has online content available to the public. Left a comment at this post in 2013. It's 3 years later and the "Don'ts" in this post are still relevant. Interested in becoming a successful blogger? Check out this advice from Suresh Vurity, author and owner of way2earning.com.

Change Your Blog Name and Tagline
In
a previous post a response was provided to the question:
How Often Do You Update Your Blog Content?
In
that post, I also explained that after joining a blogging community,
BlogJob.com and being allowed to create a blog there, there was the
task of giving the blog a name and a tagline. The blog is not yet a
year old and it has become necessary to make an executive decision.
Decided that the
blog name and tagline needed to be changed. It wasn't difficult to
do since the blog URL remains the same no matter how many times the
name changes.
Also
needed to add an icon. Icon or favicons are an integral part of a
website or blog's online identity.
Took
care of the easiest task first. Went into the theme customizer and
added an icon. Finally decided on the flag of Texas in the shape of
the state of Texas as my icon. Since my plans are for Austin, Texas
to be our final stop. Our family has relocated more than once. But
I'm tired of moving.
Next task.
Changed the name and tagline for my site to something more
“generic”.
OLD
blog name: Cmoneyspinner Keeps on Blogging
NEW
blog name: My Pain, Your Gain
OLD
blog tagline: Let the blogging adventures continue.
NEW
blog tagline: Advice for newbies and others who want to work at home.
Learn from my mistakes.
Hope
you visit at your earliest convenience. :)

WAH! On Top of WAH! Another Weekend!
WAH! WAH!! No. That's not my imitation of a crying baby. :)
For the past couple of months my major work-at-home (WAH) project has been republishing content and updating links at my various blogs, especially incorrect affiliate links that redirect clickers elsewhere! Then on January 30, 2016, PersonaPaper (my favorite social blogging community) announced they will no longer be accepting members and plan to shut down. Tried to back up my posts and this is now another "To Do" project: Find PP Content New Home.
"An online entrepreneur's work is never done."
Wonder who said that. (???) Oh! Yeah! It was me!
Have created several potential residual income streams – Tsū , myLot , my blogs at - Tumblr, BlogJob and Blogger (or Blogspot ), and online writing communities like DailyTwoCents , HUBPages , Wizzley, etc.
Creating them is one thing.
Keeping up with them is another.
It's clear to me that my “To Do List” should be more organized, in order for me to accomplish more. So that's my project to help me with my home business projects. Create an organized achievable prioritized list of "I Will DO ALL of This!" items.
Great! Just what I needed! Another WAH project! :)

What is a Subscriber?
See the little chicklet with the red heart? I use the Google FeedBurner tool to burn feeds for my various blogs. There are several ways to get people to subscribe to your blog feed. This little chicklet is just one of them.
I'm okay with the chicklet and I really really love the Feedburner. But I noticed something interesting about "My Feeds" almost right from the very start. The Subscriber count.
Yeah. (???) The number looks ... questionable? ... unreasonable? ... mysterious?
I'm going to settle on the word "squirrelly". Even though my spellchecker indicates that it's not a word.
The numbers don't make sense! So I'm thinking, they must be some sort of secret code and I've always had my theory about Rocky and Bullwinkle. So that's why I decided "squirrelly" was the best way to describe my subscriber count.
Anyway I found the answer to my puzzle, as to why the numbers look unreal.
I am so glad that I read the response, because it clarifies everything!!
Love the Feedburner tool. It is a valuable helpful tool and I will continue to use it until Google tells me it's no longer free or for whatever reason or for no reason at all, I just won't be allowed to use it. It's theirs. They own it. They can tell me to take a hike!
But I don't think I'm going to rely on the number of subscribers who supposedly hold their breath and wake up each morning checking their eMail messages or waiting to receive notifications that I've published another blog post!!
WHY? Because based on the response I read.

Native American Contemporary Artist: Dan Namingha
Dan Namingha
Native American Painter/Sculptor; Born 1950 -
To work around the traditional art system, i.e. non-recognition of Native American artists, Namingha opened his own gallery. Niman Fine Art is a family-owned and operated gallery representing the works of internationally known artist Dan Namingha and other Namingha family members. His original works are also available at art galleries worldwide; for example, Artnet Galleries.
From the Tewa-Hopi tribe, Dan Namingha was born on the Hopi reservation in Keams Canyon, Arizona. In 2009, Dan Namingha received an Honorary Doctorate from the Institute of American Indian Arts. Like most artists, from very young (2nd grade) his artistic abilities provided him an avenue of creative expression. His work shows the influence of his Hopi background but his sculptures also incorporate cubism. Links to additional bio notes:
"I see myself as a kind of bridge between worlds, trying to find that center line of balance." - Dan Namingha

Native American Contemporary Artist: Kevin Red Star
November is Native American Heritage Month in the United States of America.
3-part blog post. Spotlight on three Native American artists of Crow, Hopi and Navajo descent, who share the art resulting from their culture and traditions with the world.
"What started at the turn of the century as an effort to gain a day of recognition for the significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment and growth of the U.S., has resulted in a whole month being designated for that purpose." - Quote Source: Bureau of Indian Affairs, U.S. Department of the InteriorIn 1990, President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution which designated November as "National American Indian Heritage Month". Below are profiles of three Native American artists whose persistent and diligent efforts have introduced the contemporary art of descendants of the first Americans to an international audience.

Well thanks to his efforts and that of many others who support the preservation of our Native American history, culture and heritage, it will be ignored no longer. Red Star's work can be found in numerous important museum collections, including but not limited to The Smithsonian Institution - National Museum of the American Indian.

myLot.com - Can First Impressions Be Trusted?
Active member of various online writing communities and at the urging of a couple of fellow bloggers, decided to sign up with myLot.com which is YASM, yet another social network. It is a combination of things but in a nutshell, it's a huge discussion forum that welcomes everybody to participate. FREE to sign up. Start immediately.
This site was "rebooted". Started in 2006; had been popular at one time, lost the momentum, revamped and now as of 2015, the owners are revved up and forging ahead full speed.
Very impressed with my experience thus far. In fact, have already published one review (see * below); and this blog post is more or less a review / progress report.
At myLot, you don't get paid for writing posts. Rather you are encouraged to generate discussions. When you write up a quick post or a lengthy article (there are no requirements on character counts, word count, etc.), the more feedback that's generated, the more likely you are to earn money. The payout is $10 and you must have a PayPal account.
Within less than a week, 15 discussions (see list below) have been started by me. People are leaving responses or comments at most of them, and the interest being expressed in my topics is encouraging. Hoping to make more friends. The members seem to be enthusiastic. The earnings potential is definitely there.

How Pinterest Uses Your Content Without Violating Copyright Laws
English: Red Pinterest logo (Photo credit: Wikipedia) |
- Pinterest, the increasingly popular pinboarding social network, is able to present a visually arresting interface in large part by using copyrighted images pinned by users. "It's a huge concern for creative bloggers," said Amy Anderson, who blogs on the arts and crafts site Crafter Minds. "I don't think Pinterest does anything to help protect copyright besides removing content when people ask."

Could Treasure Pen Be the New Facebook?
Have been freelance writing since 2011, and participating in online
writing communities – slash – social networks similar to
TreasurePen.com, but NOT!
Recently I published a short blurb at another writing site – DailyTwoCents.com about this site and titled it “Looking For the New Facebook”.
Here is the link, if interested:
Looking For the New Facebook?
It poses the question which was mentioned by an independent reviewer or blogger about the future of Treasure Pen.
The answer is: "Yes." "It could."
But dogged diligence and determination would be required. They would have to burn the candle at both ends, so to speak. Don’t know if they fully realize this, but the management and staff at the T-Pen community are literally sitting on top of a gold mine! (O.o)
Wishing them success!!

Earn Money For Publishing Short Posts
This site shut down August 21, 2018.
Daily Two Cents is an online writing community very different from the others. It’s pay-per-view, includes social networking, and allows the writer or contributor to earn 100% on their affiliate referral links. That’s right! NO REVENUE SHARING!! You keep what you earn!
Can you write short posts - approximately 100 words - about a topic? Doesn't have to be facts. Opinions are accepted. To date I have published 50+ posts. View examples. Links to ten (10) of my posts are provided below.

Bob Marley - Rastaman Trivia
Shared this video (below) via Twitter a little over a year ago (March 2013). Bob Marley is a personality that many people like to write about, including yours truly. There are many things about his lifestyle I did not agree with, but there are lots of things about his music that I like, such as the fact that some, if not most of his song lyrics were based on scriptures.
Feeling a Bob Marley vibe this morning. https://t.co/wmIV8Znl7C
