** 4th Commandment:

SABBATH DAY - WORK FORBIDDEN

- Stated in the Law of Moses: EXO 20: 8 "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. --Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: --but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates. --For in six days the Lord made the heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the seventh day and hallowed it." Penalty for Violating: DEATH: Num 15: 32-36 ~ Restated or clarified by Jesus Christ: Matt 12: 5 - 8; 11 - 12; John 7: 21 - 24 "Or have ye not read in the law, how that on sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? But I say unto you, That in this place is One greater than the temple. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I WILL HAVE MERCY, AND NOT SACRIFICE, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the sabbath day." "And He said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days." "Jesus answered and said, I have done one work and ye all marvel. Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision: (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at Me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment." ~ Restated in NEW Testament: COL 2: 16 nullifies The Sabbath was a day of rest.
