** 5th Commandment:

DISOBEDIENCE TO PARENTS FORBIDDEN

- Stated in the Law of Moses: EXO 20: 12 "Honor thy mother and thy father, that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." SABBATH DAY - WORK FORBIDDEN

- Stated in the Law of Moses: EXO 20: 8 "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. --Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: --but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates. --For in six days the Lord made the heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the seventh day and hallowed it." Penalty for Violating: DEATH: Num 15: 32-36 ~ Restated or clarified by Jesus Christ: Matt 12: 5 - 8; 11 - 12; John 7: 21 - 24 "Or have ye not read in the law, how that on sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? For the Son of Man is Lord even of the sabbath day." "And He said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days." "Jesus answered and said, I have done one work and ye all marvel. SWEARING FORBIDDEN

- Stated in the Law of Moses: EXO 20: 7 "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain." Penalty for Violating: DEATH: Lev 24: 15, 16 ~ Restated or application clarified by Jesus Christ: Matt 5: 33 - 37 "Again ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, THOU SHALT NOT FORSWEAR THYSELF, BUT SHALL PERFORM UNTO THE LORD THINE OATHS. But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: nor by the earth; for it is God's footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil."
