I Used Paper.li to Publish "My Twitter WeekEnd Wrap-Up"

Ever thought about publishing your own newspaper that quickly summarizes what you consider "headline news" that you want to read about? I tweet a lot.  But I find it tedious to continuously scroll through my tweets.  I found a really easy way to highlight/summarize my weekly Twitter activity.  I use the Paper.li publishing tool to generate a weekly newspaper. It's is a great recap of my Tweet activity or tweets of import for me for the past week!

Check out this edition of  My Twitter WeekEnd Wrap-Up.

Time sure does fly.  My first issue was dated March 17, 2014.  That's a Monday.  Changed it to Sunday updates with a few "special editions" every now and then.  Really love this tool furnished by Paper.li.  Have you tried it?  I publish other papers too.

History of India : The Significance of 12 September | dracula fun (Reblog)

My comments: The blog publisher says the incident is minimized in the record of history. But it says they gave land grants to the families of the slain soldiers, so – in my mind - the authority gave credit where credit was due. It's better to not get any mention in history than to serve faithfully and then have your family disregarded as if you didn't do anything at all. The family who lost a member who died as a valiant soldier more often than not probably depended on that person for their own survival. It's the least the country's leaders could do.

History of the Indian army (as in India, not Native Americans).  Interesting history.

Where Newbie Bloggers Should Go For Advice and Answers

My early attempts at affiliate marketing, D.I.Y. (do-it-yourself) website building, blogging, and other home business projects were so … ??? … amateur. Was going to say “futile” but since there were many benefits derived from these efforts even though several websites and blogs were trashed or deleted along the way, the time and energy expended was not a total waste. The learning exercises were fruitful, not futile.

Before even starting a blog, using generic search terms like “make money with your website”, found this wonderful resource.  What you can do with a website, you can do with your blog.  The link below was included in the results.

28 Ways to Make Money with Your Website | Daily Blog Tips

You know when you’ve visited a site way too many times because the site owner begins to talk to you like he knows you! 🙂  Daniel Scocco is based in Brazil, a country that is on my bucket list of “Places I’d Like to Visit But Probably Never Will”. He has been very kind and helpful. Because of his assistance, I was encouraged to continue my online endeavors. It is awesome to see that his blog is still going strong after all these years.

DBT (Daily Blog Tips) also has a sister site, DWT (Daily Writing Tips) that can improve your writing and speaking skills, and it’s fun! Here is an example of a fun but educational post.

US History: Presidential Trivia: Teddy Called Them Muckrakers

The term "muckraker" was used by America's 26th president, Theodore Roosevelt.

In the United States, muckrakers was the name for writers whose aim was expose corruption: i.e. to search for and expose misconduct in public life.

In chronological order:
  • 1908 - Ray Stannard Baker "Following the Color Line" written to expose racial discrimination.

Worthy of honorable mention:
  • Ida Minvera Tarbell (1857 - 1944), U.S. journalist, known for "muckraking" exposés of political and corporate corruption; also a biographer, notably of Abraham Lincoln; and the only lady in the bunch!

More Presidential Trivia:

  • American presidents, (Thomas) Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt, were Nobel Prize winners. 1906, Roosevelt received the award for being a mediator and arbitrating an end to the Russo-Japanese conflict; there was a dispute over +Manchuria and +Korea. Wilson received the prize in 1919, for establishing the League of Nations after World War I (1914 - 1918).

  • The "teddy bear" is named after Roosevelt's nickname Teddy because he went hunting and didn't want to shoot a baby cub.  Many people think a teddy bear with roses is an irresistible gift for Valentines Day?

Advice for Newbie Bloggers ~ 5 Tips That Bear Repeating

This post to encourage others out there who may have their mind set to tread this path to making money online. It is extremely easy to get discouraged and give up. My first blog post at this blog is dated April 9, 2014.

It's a mess!! All those strikethroughs. I left them to remind me not to give up! Have had a lot of learning experiences on the road to trying to become a successful blogger. Yes, I did say “trying”. I know it's been 3 years but the goal I'm aiming for - generating consistent monthly income from monetized blogs and affiliate marketing websites - has not yet been achieved.

I am an active participant in a discussion forum called SEOClerks, where you can learn and earn about blogging, writing, affiliate marketing, SEO and a myriad of other tips and tricks that aspiring webmasters need to know.
(Note:  This community is free to join.)

A question was asked about advice for newbie bloggers.  Below (below the star) is the response I contributed.

What tips do you recommend for beginners in blogging?

Tip #1 ~ I did not know about communities and forums when I started blogging. But I'm glad I eventually found out about their existence. If for no other reason that I no longer feel like I'm all alone.

Groups on Facebook and Communities on Google Plus are OK.  But if you can find a blogging community or a forum, join it. Try to find one where you can learn and earn. You'll get support and can commiserate with fellow members who are also trying to find their way through the blogging maze.

Join an online writing community, also. It's for article writers. Similar to blogging communities. It helps improve your writing skills.  Most of them have revenue-share programs, along with supportive Admin and members.

If you can afford to pay for the blogging courses offered, then go ahead. If you can't, that's where these communities and forums come in handy. Forums like SEOClerks, for example.  :)

Tip #2 Find blogs you really enjoy reading (search via Bloglovin or sites like that or blog directories), subscribe and visit often. Leave comments. Find the bloggers that will approve your comments and will also allow you to associate your blog URL to your name as a backlink. Not kidding. If you leave comments on a blog post, they go into moderation and you never receive approval or your comments don't become visible online, leave that blog in the dust! There are too many other bloggers out there who would happy to have visitors that leave comments behind.  Leave worthwhile comments. Not one-word exclamations or boring one-liners that make the blogger think you didn't even bother to read their post.

Tip #3 ~ There are many free blog publishing platforms to get started. If you are interested in trying to earn income from your blog, find out what the rules are about monetizing your blog. All blogging platforms are not created equal. Some allow certain things and some don't. You break the rules you will have your blog deleted in a heartbeat!

Tip #4 BUDGETING:  Anything that requires a monetary investment and you have the money to pay for it, then go ahead. If you don't have money, use what you have. Your brains, your skills, a laptop (or whatever device you use), and Internet access.

Tip #5 Most important. Don't expect immediate success. Be patient. Be persistent. Persevere.

Top 5 Essentials For Every Cyclist (Guest Post)

Serious cyclists never leave home without these 5 essentials.

    1.Water Bottle:

Water is the first most basic thing for humans. One can live without food for several days but not without water.

A Water Bottle is a much-needed one especially when you are involved in physical tasks like Sports, Cycling, and Jogging. In order to keep water level stable, drink at least a cup of water (200 ml) each and every hour.

Try to refill a water bottle whenever the source of water is available.

You may have to face heat strokes if you are hydrated.

    2. Food:

Food is the second most basic thing.

For Vegans, I recommend going with Veg Sandwich with Peanut butter and a salad.
For Non-Vegans, I recommend going with Bread Omelet with a salad.

(I don’t recommend anyone to energy drinks as they contain preservatives.)

Note: If you need any drinkables then consider taking milkshakes.

    3. Tissues or Hankies:

To wipe out the sticky waste particles tissues or hankies can be a better choice.

At the time of buying consider giving more preference to wet tissues over hankies, as they have moisture inside.

Note: In the case of wet tissues, have it inside the packet only. Never take and store them separately. If you do so, the tissues may lose some percentage of Wetness.

    4.Smart Phone:

A smartphone is the much need one as they also linked with safety and communication.

    • To capture the interesting moments as a video or photo. (Use Digital Camera for the best quality)
    • To contact someone when you are facing trouble.
    • To enjoy cycling with pleasable songs. (Don’t forget to take Earphones)
    • To take notes for future references.

Because of these things a smartphone is a much-needed combo.

    5. Backpack:

To keep all the above things safe a backpack is needed. Ensure to buy a backpack with top quality so that you won’t face any problems in the middle of cycling.

Now that you have equipped yourself with the essentials for cycling, are you up for the challenge of mountain biking? If so, there are a few more things you will need. To start, you'll need a really good mountain bike.

    Mountain Bike Reviews

"A Mountain Bike is the abbreviated form of MTB. The Mountain Bikes are exclusively designed for traveling on uneven surfaces like footpaths of hilly regions and for stunt performers. There are more differences between the ordinary bicycle and a Mountain Bike. ..."

Audiobooks for Kids and Teens : Build a Listening Library!

How many times have we heard: "Reading is fun and fundamental." Listening to good books is fun too and a great way to engage your child in a recreational activity that builds character.

Audiobooks for Children? But of course! These days they always have headphones stuck in their ears anyway. (Mine do!)  Give them something worthwhile to listen to.

Listening Library is associated with Random House, Inc. and has been in business for over half a century. In 1955 they published their first audiobook: Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days.

Follow this excellent lead and example, many book publishers and booksellers began offering audiobooks to book lovers everywhere.  Nowadays, it's very easy to find almost any book in an audio format.  You can build your own listening library filled with audiobooks for Kids and Teens.  Audiobooks encourage children to enjoy listening and could get them to enjoy reading.  Teachers have indicated that audiobooks benefit children who struggle with reading and can improve literacy.

Dream Italian? Think Italian. Be Italian! ~ Is Italy on Your Places To Go Bucket List?

Still continuing to dream my impossible dream. This blog post - Dream Italian? Think Italian. Be Italian! - (1st published in 2015) enjoys popularity, no matter where it is shared. That lets me know there are lots of people who probably dream of vacationing or even living in Italy.

Assuming that's true, I decided to go a 2nd time around and supplement the content for my original post with some additional information found at the HubPages writing community.  Currently, my writer's profile shows 20 HUBs (or articles). However, the only one that comes close to the topic of Italy is the one titled The Seven Kings of Rome

Here are some suggested reads published by my fellow HUBBERs that you are sure to enjoy.

Women in History : The Story of Santa Lucia

Awesome find resulting from my “one thing leads to another” Internet travels. Searching for HUBs written by fellow freelance writer and blogger, Susan Duffy on HUBPages, and clicked the link on her profile which led me to her website, Senior at Large In a Sicilian Kitchen (published at susanduffy.com).  Her writings are impressive.  And … she’s from  Australia!  Never been there.  It’s on my bucket list.  But have crossed paths online with some really cool people who live there.

Have you ever heard performers sing the song "Santa Lucia"?  I have heard it performed but never knew who the woman or that she was, in fact, a real person.  Just read a horrific story about a woman who is now honored as Santa Lucia.  Her remains were finally laid to rest in Siracusa (Syracuse).  “Venice was home to her for so long that the gondoliers’ song “Santa Lucia”, originally from Naples, has become part of that city’s identity.”

    Can Bad Credit be Deleted?

What is your plan every new year?  Plan to go back to black?  No.  The question is not do you plan to buy up all the Amy Winehouse music you can find for the new year?  Is one of your new year's resolutions to rebuild your credit? If so, here is some sound advice.
    * * *

    Can Bad Credit be Deleted?

Despite the fervent proclamations of bureaucrats and credit bureaus everywhere, a simple fact remains: negative credit listings are deleted from peoples' credit reports by the thousands each and every day.

A few years ago, an attorney from Lexington Law. visited with a regulatory agency for a casual conversation with two agents. The Agency's office, as a matter of course, believed the credit bureaus' claim that bad credit couldn't be deleted. The visiting Lexington attorney asked, "How many negative listings would you have to see deleted from consumer credit reports before you would believe that bad credit can be deleted: ten? fifty? a hundred? one thousand?" The agents responded with only blank stares.

"How about 50,000 deleted listings, would that convince you?" continued the Lexington attorney. From his briefcase, he pulled a stack of papers six inches high.

"In these pages, we have listed the permanent deletion of over 50,000. listings from our clients' files in the last two years alone," he explained. The agents pulled the stack across the conference table and began to pick through the pages, taking in the massive list.

"But have you deleted any bankruptcies?" shot back one of the agents, "we know that bankruptcies can't be deleted." The Lexington attorney leaned across the table and ran his finger down the first page.

"There's one deleted bankruptcy... and, there's another,... and another,... and another. Should I go on?" asked the Lexington attorney.

The agents sat back in their chairs. "You know," began the junior agent, "I have this one listing on my credit report that simply must belong to somebody else..."

    How is credit repair possible?

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) allows a consumer to challenge the information on his credit report on the basis of "completeness and accuracy." When a consumer files a dispute, the credit bureaus must contact the source of the credit information (the creditor) and confirm that the information is accurate, verifiable, and not obsolete. In some circumstances, the credit bureau is required to go beyond a simple verification of the creditor's own computer record. If within 30 days, the credit bureau has not received verification from the creditor, then the credit bureau must promptly delete the credit listing.

Society and Culture: Are Secret Societies a Threat?

Did you hear?  Beyoncé and Jay-Z are members of the Illuminati.

Uh-huh. And this strikes fear in me because … ???  ... WHY?

Well, at least now I get Ray Romano’s joke about them being the most powerful couple in America. :)  But Jay-Z and his lovely wife, Beyoncé are probably laughing way harder than everybody else.

Read an article about so-called secret societies – Freemasons, Rosicrucian Order, Illuminati, etc.

    Top 5 Secret Societies |Wizzley.com

This provides a wealth of material if anyone wants something to write about it. But to take these groups seriously? WHY?

    • Are they dangerous??
    • Because they have a secret??
    • Because they are secretive??
    • Because they might also have a lot of money and possibly some influence on persons in high places and can change the course of the world??!!!! And you have no control over it??

Gimme a break! Who doesn’t have a secret??

Rich or poor. Between dreaming and having your own secrets, can’t nobody control you!!

**** Hmmm … this is kind of an afterthought but … UM … Such type organizations could be a threat to the members. Everything being so hush hush - if a crime were committed, where would they go for justice? Maybe the Cosa Nostra probably holds court on the weekends. (O.o)
