Ten Plus One Books Worth Reading - Fox's Picks

Borrowed this idea from another blog post. Listing 10 books plus The Book (Bible), that, in my humble opinion, are worth reading. Some of them are books for kids but recommended for adults who still eat sugary cereals when nobody's looking. Picture books, in particular, are quick and easy reads, often fun, and sometimes very profound!!

In the Mood for a Romance Novel?

She started it! Some say that Kathleen Woodiwiss (1939 - 2007) pioneered the historical romance genre. No matter who gets credits, just be glad there are thousands of romance novels to get lost in!  They make for good reading on a rainy day, a winter's day, late at night … practically any time that you want or need some quality “me” time.  Her debut novel, "The Flame and the Flower" (1972), revolutionized the romance genre with its length, strong heroine, and explicit romantic content.  It opened the door for a new wave of historical romance authors.  That was her debut novel, but these two are my favorites.

A Rose in Winter

  • Erienne Fleming, famed for her beauty, is forced by her indebted father to marry Lord Saxton, a mysterious, masked, and disfigured nobleman. Though frightened at first, she gradually discovers his gentleness and loyalty. But her heart is still tied to another man. What must she choose? Her duty to her enigmatic husband or her passion for the other man.

Shanna

  • Heiress Shanna Trahern, pressured by her father to marry, impulsively weds Ruark Beauchamp, a condemned prisoner, in exchange for a single night of freedom from her obligations. She immediately flees to her father’s Caribbean island, believing she has left Ruark behind forever. But Ruark escapes execution and reappears—now working as her father’s bondsman. Uh oh! Plot twist!

❤️❤️❤️

If you enjoyed the novels by Kathleen Woodiwiss, you might also enjoy the writings of Jude Devereaux and Bertrice Small.

Review This!: A Knight in Shining Armor ~ A Romantic Book Review (REBLOG)

Reblogging a post link for Review This! because Jude Deveraux is one of my favorite historical romance novelists (although not all of her romance books are historical); plus I'm a sucker for stories about knights. :)
