Interesting People: Anousheh Ansari

Anousheh Ansari was born September 12, 1966, Mashhad, Iran. Her life story could be titled: Dots on the Map from Iran to Texas to Space. She displayed both the American and Iranian flags on the sleeve of her spacesuit.

Anousheh Ansari’s family is originally from Iran but they transplanted themselves in America after the Islamic Revolution; and guess where they chose to settle? Yup! Texas!

She had a childhood dream. Going into space.

Did she realize that dream? Yes she did!

Did she have to overcome prejudices and obstacles? Uuuhhh … hmmm?

A female, an American of Iranian descent who wanted to display both the American and Iranian flags on the sleeve of her spacesuit.

Was she insane? NO! She was a dreamer and her dreams came true!

Anouseh Ansari’s story is your typical American success story. Or at least, all of US would like to believe that her story is “typical” because it feels good to be able to boast to others that this kind of dream realization happens only in America. Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC’s “Hardball” likes to call these kinds of typical fairy tales “American exceptionalism”.

Use Flipboard to Publish Your Own Magazine

Been at this work at home American dream since 2007.  Perhaps others would have given up already.  Ten years is a long time.  What can I say?  I believe in unicorns and dreams.

My Pick for Infographic of the Day From Manta.com - Freedom & Independence

Mea culpa! Mea culpa! Apologizing to Manta.com for not spreading the love. In my defense?
  • Excuse #1: A newbie (or inexperienced entrepreneur) to the world of online business.
  • Excuse #2: Home business blogs were not up and running - at the time when my websites were listed in their directory back in 2011.

Four years later, on a roll with my homebiz projects and know enough now to let others know that if you are a small business owner, home business entrepreneur, WAHM, whatever! ... Take advantage of the resources and services this company has to offer. Sharing this gem from their blog, my pick as an "Infographic of the Day".

If you are an American small business person and don't get to watch CNBC (or any other business new channel, for that matter), then you should follow the Manta blog. It will keep you informed and current.

Isn't this infographic awesome?
