Renaissance Man or Mad Man?

Jose Sanchez is the marketing manager at Uberflip, who wrote this article and published it with an infographic.  It was tagged "General Management" and "Marketing" and since in my "organization" I wear both of those hats - i.e. general manager and the person in charge of marketing :-) - hoped to extract a few pointers.  This article was recommended by the Editors of CMO.com.  When editors give you a thumbs up that's usually a good indicator.  It's an informative article.  But the introduction given by the Editors as a lead-in is RE-quoteworthy.

From the Editors : Back in his day--and we're talking 500 years ago--Leonardi da Vinci was a master of both art and science, described as a man of "unquenchable curiosity." Seems as if he had the right stuff for the modern-day chief marketing role, don't you think? Our lead article and infographic, "Today's CMO: More Renaissance Man Than 'Mad Man,'" paints a clear picture of the many new skills marketers must possess to help shape their companies' success. ...

Who wouldn't want to read the article after a lead-in like that??

(NOTE: Archived copy of article)

NOTE:  I was also intrigued because the mention of a Renaissance Man reminded me of one of my own articles - which is in no way related to the topic other than the fact that it also discusses others who like Mr. Da Vinci were thought to be Renaissance Men.  I also wear a freelance writer hat.  What can I say?  I wear a lot of hats and do my best to try to make it look easy and "flawless".  Wake up each day determined to succeed on my mission to STOP "The Nothing". :)

Site Review: The Bing Bing Says Hello! Hello! and Buy! Buy!

UPDATE July 3, 2019 ~ The site may say "Buy Buy" but I said "Bye Bye".  I created my profile at this site as a work-at-home project.  Bing Bing allows affiliate links so I wanted to use this platform for affiliate marketing purposes.  Even though this platform has two great features (easy link sharing and the buy button), Pinterest overwhelmed it in popularity.  In the end, it did not work for me.

If you are a Bing Bing user I would love to hear from you about your experience.

Sharing a tip! Active on Twitter and noticed many of my tweets were being retweeted by a Tweeter I did not know.

The Bing Bing made themselves known a few months back by sending me an eMail inviting me to participate in their network. Glad they did! My Bing Bing profile.

Experimenting with Blogspot (So far ... So good.)

Gave my blog a little “cosmetic surgery”. This is what happens when you are in “self-teach learn as you go” mode.

Use a do-it-yourself tool or application for years and then one day you have an “Ah hah” moment because you finally figure out what the “button” is for!

Usually, my attention is devoted to my Tumblr blog, but decided that there was something not quite right with the look of my Blogger ( Blogspot ) blog.

Hmmm … ? What can I do that I haven't done before? Have you ever changed the fonts for the blog post titles and dates or added highlights? It's a simple thing but for me it was a revelation!

Well, I didn't want to get overly ambitious since it was my first time but clicked on the “Customize” button for the template dared myself.

Clicked on “Advanced” and boldly went where I have never gone before!

Changed the font for my post title so that it could stand out more and increased the font size for the dates and even highlighted it in blue. That was it! Didn't dare go any further for fear things might get screwed up. Very pleased with my blogging adventure!

Inside AdSense: AdSense help, when and where you need it (Reblog)

How many times have you come close to pulling out all of your hair because you couldn't find an answer to a question about Google AdSense? Never? Ok! Then it's just me who is doing a happy dance in my chair because I finally struck gold!

It's a Q & A gold mine of questions and answers about AdSense.

Where is it?  Uumm … at an official Google blog. (O.o)

Please! Don't ask me to supply a logical explanation for why I never looked! All I can say is sometimes the things that are clear and obvious don't always register in my brain. I'm like the rest of the brilliant scientists who get credit for their discoveries. Found out accidentally!  It's been discovered and that's what counts!

Another Awesome Discovery!

My Pick for Infographic of the Day From Manta.com - Freedom & Independence

Mea culpa! Mea culpa! Apologizing to Manta.com for not spreading the love. In my defense?
  • Excuse #1: A newbie (or inexperienced entrepreneur) to the world of online business.
  • Excuse #2: Home business blogs were not up and running - at the time when my websites were listed in their directory back in 2011.

Four years later, on a roll with my homebiz projects and know enough now to let others know that if you are a small business owner, home business entrepreneur, WAHM, whatever! ... Take advantage of the resources and services this company has to offer. Sharing this gem from their blog, my pick as an "Infographic of the Day".

If you are an American small business person and don't get to watch CNBC (or any other business new channel, for that matter), then you should follow the Manta blog. It will keep you informed and current.

Isn't this infographic awesome?

My Google Plus Business Page is Green!

Having a winning banner day today.

Don't know much, i.e. not a geek and technologically challenged.

Do know that Google has always supplied these wonderful webmaster tools and when the social network was set up, they offer the Plus Your Business resources, etc., to help the user become successful. But they don't put you in a high chair and feed you baby food. OK! Some stuff you have to learn on your own. Nevertheless, you have no excuse because they gave you the tools. You need to apply your talents!

My talents or tech skills level is on a learn as you go basis. Never been formally trained or educated in harnessing the Internet, HTML coding and so on.

Getting to the point of this post.

TODAY is a banner day. Why? Because … IT'S ALL GREEN!

Green is good! Way better than red.

Any non-geek can understand that.

Don't want to to bore you with the sad story but my first home business Google Plus page was suspended. Asked for review but didn't wait for it. Thought to myself:

'Hmmm? Suspended? (O.o) Uuuhh? That's not the same as BANNED or BANISHED! Right?'

Kind of like having the same attitude as the librarian character played by Rachel Weisz in the 2001 movie, “The Mummy Returns”.

  • Script: “ … drink from The Nile. Oh! That doesn't sound too bad.” (Uh oh! YIKES!!)

The Mummy
So my rationale was:

  • A suspended G+ page is like “drinking from The Nile”.

VERSUS

  • Being banned or banished from Google Plus altogether is like facing off with the Scorpion king.

Decided the suspension wasn't all that bad.

Scrapped the suspended business page and started over.

The screen shot below is of my replacement page, Home Business Works G+. Each time my page is opened the stats appear to let me know if the public is receiving it well or totally ignoring it.

Well today … the stats for the last 30 days are ALL GREEN!!

Woo Hoo!!

Had to make a screen shot of it!

Looking forward to 2016.
