Throwback Music: Everybody Wants To Rule The World ~ Tears for Fears

My YouTube pick for Throwback Thursday is the original video by an awesome duo from my generation called Tears for Fears. Threw in the other video just because.

These guys held a concert in Austin, Texas in 2015; Austin Music Hall. Did not attend but was so glad to see the advertisement in the paper and to know these two brothers childhood friends were still around making their awesome music. ((I always thought they were brothers.  But I discovered later they were just good friends.)  I converted some of my kids and got them to listen to this talented duo. :)  The music of Tears for Fears is still relevant today.

You want to know a secret? It's a genuine secret. Never told this to anybody but always thought it. You see the guy with the long black hair and the curly locks?  He looks like one of my cousins.  Never told anybody because my cousin was a girl named Helen.  Kept that secret for almost 30 years.  Guess it's OK to reveal it now.  :)

Entertainment: Music: Throwback: Randy Crawford ~ Everything Must Change

"Everything Must Change" is a timeless classic. - In life, everybody sings this song, if they live.

"Everything Must Change" is one of those songs that if an artist dares to mess this up when performing it, there will be no forgiveness for sins. Nope!! The song police will be called by me and I will demand that they are arrested! STOPPED!!!

* Randy Crawford – who could never sing any song in a way that would displease anybody – sang this song and stamped it in my memory. Nobody has a voice like this woman.

* My husband found a rendition by the late but still awesomely great Nina Simone.

* Found a duet performance with the inimitably soulful Chaka Khan and unquestionably soulful Simply Red.

They can all relax. Will not have to call the song police for any of them.

Jackie Evancho - YouTube Channel

Just subscribed to this music channel. Yeah, I'm late to the party.  Should have done it ages ago.  But better late than never!

It is such a pleasure to see her continue to blossom and grow.  I know the mention of this flower likely provokes another cherished memory in your mind ("Sound of Music"), but it would not that far of a stretch to compare her to edelweiss

Here is another magical performance. It's on her album Awakening.

● The Sound of Music : What Became of the Von Trapp Children?

It's 2017; approximately 2 years since these events occurred. I missed the entire 2015 Oscars Awards and the next day's entertainment news reports had nothing but praise for Lady Gaga who delivered a flawless performance of songs from The Sound of Music which were first performed by Julie Andrews.

World Music : Spotlight on Zaho, Algerian R&B Singer

Have always thought Algerian music had a moody, exotic, sensual vibe. Right? So tried to sign up at a site (a while back) to listen to Algerian radio stations. Could get other stations from other countries but for some reason could never get to hear music played on Algerian stations. Gave up trying!

Started watching foreign films with my SO (significant other) many moons ago and also began listening to singers from other countries or rather “world music”. You could say he opened up a new world for me; a fantastic point of view. :) But long before we ever met each other, the sound of people speaking in French has always captivated me. Mattered not what they were saying or singing – they could have been cussing at me - if it was in French it sounded way better than in English. Even people who RAP in French sound better!!

My SO (significant other) let me listen to this female singer called Zaho. Liked her sound. Did a little extra research on her.

Zehira Darabid (born on May 10, 1980), known by her artistic name Zaho, is an Algerian R&B singer. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaho

Algerian? Yeah. Uh huh. That figures. Oh well! At least access to her videos wasn't cut off from the American audience.
