Sites That Accept Republished Content (UPDATED)

In November 2015, I was on the hunt for information about reputable sites that accept republished content.  I did find a list of sites; however, that list has become unpublished.  No matter as the list did not include these two sites:

Niume and Medium.

Sign up for Medium.                         Sign up for Niume.

And then there was one.  2018 UPDATE:
  • The site owner for Niume passed away and nobody wanted to grab the torch and carry on this good work.  Writers were told to export their content and find a new home for their work.  Then the site closed its doors.

Medium was launched in 2012 by two of the founders of Twitter.

Started republishing my previously published articles and blog posts at Medium about 3 years ago.  Both sites Medium and Niume) are respected and enjoy a good online reputation.  It is a good way to make your work more visible to the search engines and build your online reputation.

What I like about Medium is that the republishing process is simplified.  You simply import your content, do a bit of editing and hit the publish button.  You can introduce your content to a new audience and connect your social media accounts for simplified sharing as well

"If you're not publishing on Medium, you're missing out on a huge potential audience for very little extra work."

The owner of this site passed away and nobody wanted to continue the work.

Niume is based in the UK, was founded in 2012, and launched as an open platform in July 2014.

Initiated my republishing efforts at Niume in 2017. My work efforts at this site were mentioned briefly in another post - Work at Home ~ Home Biz Projects : Another Weekend! - UPDATE #1.  But that was in February 2017.  Here it is just two months later (April) and not only is my previously published content considered acceptable for publication but they have also allowed me to publish some original content.  In addition, several of my posts have been featured; what they refer to as "Staff Picked".  This goes far beyond what I expected.  Below is a quick list of my content chosen to be featured by the moderators at Niume.

  • Health : Women in Medicine : Florence Nightingale
  • Celebrities : In Memory Of : Maureen O'Hara (1920 – 2015)
  • Herb and Spice Spotlight : Capsicum (Red Pepper)

My Medium Publications ~ The Year 2023 in Review

Medium publications give your content more exposure and help you meet and collaborate with fellow writers on the platform. In my opinion, publications are one of Medium's best features.

I began publishing content on Medium.com back in 2014, initially because this platform accepted republished content. But as my following grew I began to publish both original and republished content, and in 2019, started creating Medium publications.

As of 2024, I am publishing 4 different Medium publications: one for general discussion topics, one for foodies, one for Korean historical period dramas, and one for non-historical Korean dramas. Below are the links to articles that recap activity for the year 2023.

♦ Express Yourself! ~ Top 20 Articles of 2023

There are 10 articles listed. My favorite article on this list is the one about King David and Bathsheba.

♦ My Foodie Luv ~ Top Stories for the Year 2023

A varied selection of topics: fruits, cakes, world cuisine/food history, and cooking terms explained for newbies in the kitchen.

♦ My Sageuk Addiction ~ Top 10 Stories for 2023

I am very much enjoying streaming historical period Korean dramas. Viki, Netflix, Tubi, and YouTube have quite a selection to choose from. One tip if you plan to watch K-dramas: make sure that all of the episodes are available. It is so frustrating to get wrapped up in a series only to realize that you may have to wait several weeks until all of the episodes have been uploaded and are fully translated with English subtitles.

Nothing But Love for Korean Dramas ~ Top 10 Stories for 2023

I love all Korean dramas, but this publication is for non-historical K-dramas and includes news about popular actors and actresses contributed by Kpoppost.

FINAL NOTE:

If you are also a Medium contributor OR you plan to become one and you are interested in sharing your content via my Medium publications, simply comment at this post OR at one of the Medium articles OR contact me via Twitter (@cmoneyspinner).

That’s it for 2023. It’s 2024. Wishing you a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!

Mother Africa : Trees of Africa : Baobab Tree

“Wisdom is like a baobab tree; no one individual can embrace it.  (African Proverbs and Sayings)

The baobab tree (adansonia) is the national tree of Madagascar and has been called the tree of life (although I personally believe that any tree on the planet can be called a tree of life**).

What Do You Know About the Baobab Tree? ~ Medium.com

Trees Deserve Respect

Ailanthus altissima is an ornamental tree grown mainly for shade and also for its leaves which the silkworm feeds on. Sounds prettier when it is called by its unscientific name: "tree of heaven". The acacia thrives in the wilderness of Paran (the location of several historic events in the Bible).

A Tribute to Harry Belafonte (1927-2023) ~ Entertainer, Activist, and Humanitarian

Harry Belafonte passed away, on April 25, 2023, at the age of 96. He left an indelible mark in the history and the heart of America.

“I think America offers a dream that cannot be fulfilled as easily anywhere else in the world as it could be fulfilled here. …” ~ Harry Belafonte

Harry Belafonte

  • If you were preparing a list of iconic and legendary American entertainers, then Harry Belafonte would be on that list.
  • If you were making a list of notable civil rights activists in America, then Harry Belafonte would be on that list.
  • If you were making a list of humanitarians worthy of double honor for their good works, then Harry Belafonte would be on that list.
“If I’ve impacted on one heart, one mind, one soul, and brought to that individual a greater truth than that individual came into a relationship with me having, then I would say that I have been successful.” ~ Harry Belafonte

K-Drama Review: Under the Queen's Umbrella (2022)

Under the Queen's Umbrella is a Korean historical period drama series, released in 2022, that is currently streaming on Netflix

16 intense episodes. Viewers gave this series 4.9 out of 5 stars. I totally agree.  Kim Hye-Soo's performance as Queen Im Hwa-Ryeong is award-worthy. But giving credit where credit is due, quite frankly, all of the actors and actresses in this series gave exemplary performances. They played their roles as if they were real historical figures in the Joseon Era.

The worth of the flowers in the palace, i.e. the king's women, is judged by how many sons they bare the king. Queen Im Hwa-Ryeong (played by Kim Hye-Soo) has been very fortunate. She bore five (5) sons for the king. Her oldest son is the crown prince, but he is suffering from a life-threatening illness. He could die any day! If he were to die, who would take his place? The crown prince already has a son of his own, so according to the line of succession, his son, her grandson, should be heir to the throne. Then as alternatives, one of his brothers, her four other sons who are grand princes, could be chosen. But her sons are perfectly content to never be king. She would have been content to allow them not to pursue the throne EXCEPT … the deposed queen (i.e. the queen before her) also had many sons.  When she realized the lives of her sons were in jeopardy, she immediately made up her mind that her sons would not suffer the same fate as Queen Yoon and her sons.

Queen Im Hwa-Ryeong now understands that THIS IS WAR!

Why Article Writers and Bloggers Should Create a Medium Publication

I signed up for Medium over 5 years ago. My main reason for creating an account was because Medium is one of the few sites that allows republished content. YAHOO Voices used to allow it but they shut down. The difference between YAHOO Voices and Medium was that with YCN (YAHOO Contributors Network) you could earn $5 for every 1000 unique views. It was an income stream and then it wasn't!

However, even though Medium did not pay me for my content the fact that my other content from around the web could be republished made the platform worth its weight in gold. As time went by, the site owners set up a Partner Program, so that some of the contributors could earn income from their articles. Many writers have reported that earn good money for their content. I'm sorry but I don't have any bragging rights in that regard.  But I'm OK with it. Because like I said the Medium platform offers a lot of other "extras" that are great for a struggling freelancer.

One of those "extras" includes creating a Medium Publication.  It's free to create your own publication.  You can use it for your own articles and/or invite other writers to contribute.  When I first started the publication it was just a way for me to organize all of my content.  But now other writers are happy to contribute.  I love publishing content by fellow writers.  It a way of supporting them and it's a different "voice".

I need a better way for readers to peruse my articles.  My content dates back to 2014 and my profile shows over 300 articles.  It's not so easy for a visitor to be scrolling and scrolling and scrolling down the profile page.  But with a Medium Publication, the articles are neatly archived by Year.  When you scroll down, at the bottom of the page for your Publication there is a link to the "Archive".  Another plus, after you click on that link?  The visitor will find the "Top Stories" published or rather the content that was the "Most Read" by visitors.

Below are the Top 10 Stories published by Express Yourself! (publication started May 16, 2019) as of the beginning of March 2020.  Feel free to peruse the yearly archives as well:

● Character Study: People and Places: Bathsheba - Adulteress or Innocent Victim?

People are quick to read the Bible story and accuse Bathsheba of enticing King David to commit sin. However, reading the account one wonders why the woman is always to be blamed when it's about sex. This article presents a character study of Bathsheba.

Story Behind a Blue Bracelet

The Greatest Accomplishment of My Life

30 hours on an airplane with my four-year-old. I've recently achieved one of the greatest feats of my life. If there was an app that could track and rank "impossible human conquests" I'm sure this would be trending towards the top of the list.

Why The City Of Rome Still Stands Today

How an ancient general saved Rome from complete devastation "Rome has grown since its humble beginnings that it is now overwhelmed by its own greatness." Rome has stood as an important city in the world for nearly 3000 years. The ancient city gave us multiple languages, ideas, history, arts, and beliefs that spread across the planet in some form or another.

Life like a jagged arc

p>Filling in the spaces The obituary my sister writes a year later would remind us that my father's last year was only one year within 73. His life stretched out in a jagged arc. She made it linear, if not a jumble of identity, way better than I can, so I show it intact, whole here.

Korean Drama: TV Series: Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016)

"Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" (2016) is a Korean adaptation of a Chinese novel. Per quotes from Wikipedia: "Despite its ensemble cast, extensive publicity and US$13 million production budget, the series only averaged single-digit audience rating of 7.59% in South Korea, and was overshadowed by Love in the Moonlight (2016) .

Incredible! A light bulb just went off in my head. My husband at one time was studying psychology and I used to help him with his research. He took several courses but never completed his degree. (Personal reasons.)

Why Options Ruin Everything

So, I'm sure this makes me sound pretty flighty and just a touch crazy, but science is on my side here. Christina Hammond, MS, LMHC, from her article "What is decision fatigue?" put together an outline of this strange and 'made-up sounding' phenomenon.

A Real Black Man Whose Real Name is George ~ Express Yourself! | Medium.com

For those who do not understand the historical reference in the title, do research and learn the American history behind the story of “10,000 Black Men Named George”.

It’s June 1, 2020, and the USA has been experiencing civil unrest and protestations for the past 6 days. Anger has erupted over the death of an unarmed citizen at the hands or rather “the knee” of another citizen who bears arms, wears a badge, and took an oath to serve and protect the citizens.

RIGHTEOUS ANGER OVER A WRONGFUL DEATH.

Why I Like Publishing Articles via Medium.com

"Medium is an online publishing platform developed by Twitter co-founder Evan Williams, and launched in August 2012. It is legally owned by A Medium Corporation. The platform is an example of social journalism, having a hybrid collection of amateur and professional people and publications, or exclusive blogs or publishers on Medium and is regularly regarded as a blog host."  (Source: Wikipedia)

I'm an "amateur" freelance writer.  I started publishing content at Medium.com several years back.  I haven't been banned yet!  😂   They are gracious enough to not only allow my republished content, but it's OK if I leave comments.  The Medium writers contribute articles that are very enlightening, on a wide range of topics from science and technology to religion and philosophy to books and music and more.  One of the "professional people" even asked if they could publish one of my articles in their publication.  I was so honored.

My Medium Progress Report ~ As of March 2019

A couple of years ago, I shared a post at this blog about my experience with Medium.com. (“My Medium Round Up ~ Article Contributions”) The main attraction of this site was the fact that it accepts republished content. It's now 2019 and nothing has changed in this regard. The site still accepts republished content. The change is that the site has implemented a Partner Program. The goal of this program is to allow the writers to earn some revenue for their contributions to Medium.

With the exception of one article that was republished after the implementation of the program, all of my articles are not available for the paywall. The article that I republished was dated March 9, 2019, “The Origin of Brutal Regimes” and is “eligible to be part of the metered paywall”. I opted in to allow that. An article contributor can opt out. Even though I opted in, I realized after reading the additional details that can only earn money if I am in the Medium Partner Program

Guess what? I JOINED!!
Hope the MPP proves to be a consistent income stream.

California Cuisine - History, Features and Fun Facts

California cuisine?  What's that?  Uh (???) … duh??  Food prepared by California chefs.

Wild guess!

Each bullet point presented below has been explored in much further detail by fellow freelance writer Om Paramapoonya and presented in an article titled:

  • The term “California cuisine” was first used by food critics and magazine editors.
  • California has diverse agriculture and people. Thus, the cuisine reflects the variety of local produce and seafood, and the fusion of ethnic diversities, mainly, Mexicans, Europeans, and Asians/Pacific Islanders.
  • Californians have a health-conscious culture and food artisans, farmers' markets and organic farming are highly respected, valued and appreciated.
  • Signature dishes served in restaurants typically highlight: artichokes, avocado, dry jack cheese, goat cheese, roasted garlic ("stinking rose"), sourdough bread, sun dried tomatoes, and … whatever produce is in season, at the time.
  • California classic dishes – such as Cioppino (a fish stew), Oyster Cocktail, the California roll and California-Style Pizza – each have an interesting history about their origins.

The facts are fun!  Did not the story of how the California-Style Pizza came to be.  Know it now!  :)

California Cuisine - History, Features and Fun Facts

"What is California cuisine?" my boyfriend skeptically asked, as I told him I was going to write about it. In spite of having lived in California his whole life, he still wasn't sure how to describe the style of cooking in this region. I guess it's not that strange for many Californians to feel this way.

Since we're on the topic of pizza.  October is National Pizza Month in the USA.  So this post isn't dated October and the celebration is either a little early (too soon in the year) or a little late (missed it last year).   Eh!  I'm sure pizza celebrated all year round in Italy.  You've got two choices.  Pretend it's October OR pretend you're in Italy.  (Of course, if you are in Italy, no need to pretend.)
