Americans and Capital Punishment | You're Either For It OR Against It

Do you read “The Economist”? They publish very worthwhile reading material. Food for thought. On this particular topic, for many, however, there is not too much think about. Most people have drawn their line in the sand and they are either for capital punishment or against it.

My friend Jo Harrington is AGAINST the death penalty and provides more than ample information to support her position.
In the end, though her arguments are powerful and thought-provoking, my position is FOR and I can not be dissuaded. Not even the pope can persuade me.  (Pope Francis Declares Death Penalty Unacceptable in All Cases - The New York Times) While the guilty criminals sit on death row awaiting execution, it gives them time to reflect on the events which brought them to their soon to be final destination - events in their life and their life or lives of those who are no longer with us because of them - and maybe they can come to grips with the fact they are only receiving their comeuppance.

Poor Eve.  Mother of the first murderer and the first murder victim.  In that particular case, The Judge showed mercy and spared the murderer's life.  The debate continues.

How America - Can And Will - Abolish The Death Penalty

New Hampshire has just failed to abolish the death penalty-by one vote. Given that the Granite State has not actually executed anyone since 1939, you might think this doesn't matter much. But, obviously, it matters to the one man on death row in New Hampshire, a cop-killer called Michael Addison.

Modern Day Arabs and Their Father Abraham

Genealogy has been and always will be a topic of interest to human beings. We are all curious about our beginnings or origins. These days some even pay for expensive DNA tests to see if they can determine their ancestry. Others comb through paper documents, computerized records, etc. and/or combine the findings of the research of historical records with the scientific test results to confirm their lineage. Some people search the scriptures.

Français : Agar et Ismaël dans le désert (1820...
We know the Hebrew patriarch Abraham had many sons and that God promised him that his descendants would be innumerable.  One of his sons was Ishmael born to him by Hagar, the Egyptian slave, who served as a surrogate mother for Sarah, his wife.

The Ishmaelites were, are, or should be the descendants of Ishmael. For genealogy purposes, this matter seems pretty cut and dry. But who are the true Ishmaelites?

Find the answer to this question at:

Spotlight on Freelance Writer : Rupert Taylor

One awesome thing about being a freelance writer is all the other freelance writers you meet who bring their knowledge, skills, and experience to the table. Participating in online writing communities has opened a door to a wonderful world of enlightenment, and it's a pleasure to introduce others to fellow freelance writers who have inspired and motivated me to continue this pursuit.

* Spotlight on Rupert Taylor *

Rupert Taylor has almost 50 years experience in the field of journalism and his articles show off his skills. His Research is thorough and he presents critical Information and Facts on complex and complicated topics in very easily readable language.

He has almost 700 articles published online and that's just at Suite.io (formerly Suite101.com). Below is a quick list of a sampling of the titles which are sure to peak your interest.

Real Lost Cities: Ophir or Atlantis?

King Solomon sent ships to Ophir to bring back almug (or algum) trees, along with gold and precious stones.

Research about Ophir's geographical location is scant.

In short, no one seems to know where it is!

If it is ever found, it will probably be by accident, because everybody keeps searching for Atlantis.

The last bit of recorded information we have about Ophir is that the ships that set sail to go there which were sent by another king, never made it to their destination!

So I can sort of understand why people would rather go look for Atlantis.  Atlantis disappeared. Not the folks who were looking for it!!!  (O.o)

Solomon and the Plan for the Temple, as in 1 K...

  • 1 Kings 9:28  - And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
  • 1 Kings 10:11  - And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones.
  • 1 Kings 22:48  - Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Eziongeber.

magnificent splendor!!!

Diversity Topics: Things to Know About the Irish

Fancy myself a freelance writer so I joined various online writing communities that allow me to publish my jibber jabber.  Wizzley and HubPages are such communities.  In addition to these publishing platforms being great places to write and express yourself; they are equally fantastic places to read and learn about almost anything! For example, traveling around the world is only a dream for me; but the writers at these sites take me to all the wonderful places I'd like to go.  Some take me to magical historical places like Ireland.

Fellow freelance writers have written some very interesting articles about Ireland. Always knew there was way more to this land of enchantment than shamrocks and leprechauns. On hearing the music of Enya, one can not help but become curious about a mystical place that can produce that kind of awesome talent!! The thing is, she comes from a whole family of gifted musicians!! What is in the water over there???  :)

Sharing a few articles that are very informative, educational and enjoyable reading!

Beginning in the 1700, countless numbers of Irish people left their homeland and settled ...

Examining what it means to have Irish blood, outlining where Irish DNA comes from and who are the closest genetic relatives of the Irish in Europe. Of interest to anyone with Irish ancestry who wants to understand their genealogy.

Write at TreasurePen.com and You Can Earn A Red Cent! (Strikethrough!)

UPDATE June 21, 2017:

For reasons that I have been unable to determine this website disappeared.  So this post and other posts written at this blog tagged TreasurePen.com or TreasurePen, are either my content which I am glad to have saved and published here and/or my first impressions of this site which can now be completely ignored.

No biggie!  These days I'm hanging out at sites like ForumCoin.com

Content below first posted May 13, 2014, 9:15 AM

TreasurePen is an online writing platform that pays you to write short posts similar to how you share messages on Facebook or Twitter. All you need is a Google Adsense account. Yes it is a revenue-sharing platform just like all the other bazillion platforms out there. But all the platforms aren't so easy to write for. That's what makes Treasure Pen appealing.

My first post was published January 2014. Haven't been there quite 6 months, and also have not been extremely active because there are other new sites I am experimenting with as well for contrast and comparison. But this is a legitimate potential income stream for freelance writers and people who work at home.

My Medium Round Up ~ Article Contributions

"Medium is an online publishing platform developed by Twitter co-founder Evan Williams, and launched in August 2012. It is legally owned by A Medium Corporation. The platform is an example of social journalism, having a hybrid collection of amateur and professional people and publications, or exclusive blogs or publishers on Medium and is regularly regarded as a blog host."  (Source: Wikipedia)

I'm an "amateur".  Started publishing content at Medium.com a few years back.  Haven't been banned yet!  😂   They are gracious enough to not only allow my republished content, but it's OK if I leave comments.  The articles are very enlightening, on a wide rang of topics from science and technology to religion and philosophy to books and music and more.  One of the "professional people" even asked if they could publish one of my articles in their publication.  I was so honored.

My article "Successful People Who Studied Abroad" was published in Higher Education Revolution.

Wizzley Welcomes Writers | Newbie or Experienced

Earn passive income. Wizzley is an online writing community where several of my articles have been published on a wide range of topics. The community is friendly, the support is fabulous and many freelance writers and people who work at home will like the relaxed work at your own pace environment. Some parties have taken the extra step to write a public review. Some are happy. Some are not.  My plus?

Wizzley is a great place to park your evergreen content and let it generate residual income from Google AdSense.

My Twitter Weekend Wrap-Up

Paper.li is a tool that helps you publish your own online newspaper. How cool is that? You can create and publish your very own "Daily Planet " with news items of interest to you that might be of interest to other readers also.

Republishing Previously Published Content

Information for those who used to contribute to YAHOO Voices before that network was shut down. What many of us liked about the YCN (YAHOO Contributor Network) was that it accepted "previously published articles". What was really great was that payment was actually received for articles that had been sitting at another site for well over a year with almost nothing to show for it!

Earn Money For Publishing Short Posts

Daily Two Cents (dailytwocents.com ) is an online writing community very different from the others. It's pay-per-view, includes social networking, and allows the writer or contributor to earn 100% on their affiliate referral links. That's right! NO REVENUE SHARING!! You keep what you earn!

Alexandria's Alternate Endings to Portions of England's History

Are you a history buff or maybe just a person who thinks it would be cool to rewrite history with your own alternate ending?  Perhaps you could fix things up so that the Titanic and the sister ship that came after, Britannic, would not both sink!! (Yes. I know it's American history. Trying to make a point here! Just stay with me on this. :) )

Meet Alexandria Ingham.

Alexandria Ingham

Passionate educated historian with a degree in Computer Science and a self-described "writerolic".

She contributes articles to various sites and is publishing a series under a general umbrella title "Alternate History" via Wizzley.com. She is re-writing parts of the history of England, if you're interested. Below are links to two examples of her interesting "What If" scenarios. Curiously enough, the thoughts had actually crossed my mind.

Alternate History: What If Mary I Had a Child?

by AlexandriaIngham There are so many what ifs in history, and I'm continuing my alternate history series after a long break. I'm focusing on Mary I today, with a look at how history could have changed if one of those phantom pregnancies turned out to be real.

Online Writing and Revenue-Sharing Communities

  • Are you a thinker?  (Aren't we all?)
  • Do you like to write? (I prefer to write.  Talking is not one of my strong points.)
  • Do you maintain a diary?  (No.)
However ... Blogging is almost like thinking, writing and maintaining a diary, only you can use it to earn income.

My blogging escapades started a couple of years back.  So far I have not earned consistent monthly income.  But the fact that income has been earned gives hope and motivates me to persist.  There are many blog publishing platforms that are free to try out.  Free really means free!  Some allow more customization than others.  All the ones I've tried so far have treated me graciously.

What is frustrating is when something finally works right and smoothly.  Then something changes!  You don't know what.  You don't when.  You don't know why.  All you know is you're frustrated and can't think of a valid reason why a product or service that was working fine and consistently - how or why did it get broken??!  Have had that problem.  Used great platforms.  Some got shut down totally!  Used great tools to supplement the process.  An update here causes an out-date there - the plugin doesn't work and you go:  (O.o) "What happened?" (???)

Eh!  Whatever!  You keep on keeping on.  My late mother used to say:  "Child!  Do you see that sun shining in the sky?  God put it there.  It has never failed to rise.  But when mankind makes something?  Don't put too much faith in it.  It'll probably break!"

What is the meaning of the strikethroughs below?  What can I say?  The site BROKE!

Anyway, in addition to my own home business blogs, I am currently using 3 different revenue-sharing platforms and sure do hope they don't break!

There are three new online writing communities that are really starting to grow. They use the Wordpress blogging platform.  The first two are PPV (pay-per-view) and the last one is PPC (pay-per-click).  Check 'em out!
