Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: A reminder about widget links (Reblog)

The problem of unnatural links and page ranking.

I subscribe and receive notifications when posts are published via the:

Official Google Webmaster Central Blog and the

Google Search Console Team.

I keep the eMails, even though most of the time I don't know how to implement their suggestions.  (Should have kept up with technology. The learning curve is steep!)

I appreciate this REMINDER post from the Google god very much because now I know what “add a rel="nofollow" attribute” is for.

As for intentionally manipulating page rank? (Genius geek I am not!)

  • Why don't the widget makers themselves put that attribute into their own widgets?

  • Why would the users know or even be concerned? All we know is it says “free widgets” and the widgets work!!

Just sayin'.  Just asking!  Seems like the widget maker ought to be responsible. They use the Internet too and should know about page ranking, etc.

Nevertheless, the statements about Google's webspam team performing manual intervention and notification via the Search Console is completely understood.

But … huge question mark … BUT?  But that sort of indicates that sometimes your site can get ZAPPED by non-manual intervention? Doesn't it? (???)

Publishing this post as a marker.

Today is September 8, 2016. I regularly check my messages in the Search Console dashboard and have not received any “Warnings” Whew!

A look back.  Revisiting sites where I found valuable information when I first started my blogging adventures. It is good to know this site still has online content available to the public. Left a comment at this post in 2013. It's 3 years later and the "Don'ts" in this post are still relevant. Interested in becoming a successful blogger? Photos on Friday: Peak Cherry Blossoms at the Tidal Basin (Reblog)

Used to work in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. And one of my best memories were when the cherry blossoms bloomed. One of my Facebook pals invited me to contribute to one of her group boards on Pinterest and when I visited her profile to see what else she was pinning, found the link to her main blog which highlights “Things to See and Do in the Washington, D.C.Metro Area”. Yep. It's springtime in D.C., so you can guess what some of her blog posts were about. Cherry Blossoms! YAY! My pal is also a very good photographer.  Combining tidbits from her blog with info from my various blogs.  Hope you enjoy this post!

  • History of the National Cherry Blossom Festival: The event is one that offers a tribute to the commemoration of 3,000 cherry trees gifted to the US from Japan's Mayor Yukio Ozaki in 1912. This exquisite gift offered just after the turn of the 20th century was given as a way to honor the ongoing friendship between the US and Japan. Cool Down Up North - Dee's Dialogue - maa organics (Reblog)

Shared this lovely image (below) via Pinterest years back. Was reviewing some of my pins to my board for general healthcare and came across this one. The link had changed which sent me into full blown panic mode!  (Right.  A shared pin on how to relieve stress and I'm freaking out!) Searched for this diligently and found it. Corrected the original source link for my pin but as an added step and blogged this post. Don't want to lose it again! Australia is on my bucket list of Places I'd to Go and if I ever get there, will have to visit Tropical North Queensland. :)

FYI. The link that had changed led me to this nice lady's new blog maa organics. Fortunately her posts from her old blog were still available to the public. Love both blogs!! They're absolutely fabulous!
