Vintage Moments in Entertainment History : Sophia Loren and Charles Aznavour

I collect vintage stuff.  That's why I joined this awesome online community.  Find more gems like the one below in Vintage, Posters &.. - Google+. They don't just share entertainment, celebrities pics, etc. They share really rare moments in history via vintage photographs you probably won't see anywhere else. Not all the photos are black and white, but the ones that are really add to that "moment in time" often captured by an unknown talented photographer.

Why do I like this photo so much?  For one thing, I'm loyal Sophia Loren fan.  I did a Top Ten List in one of my previous posts and included her in my collection of Iconic Female Celebrities.  Eh! Everybody knows Sophia Loren.  But the fact is, if it weren't for "The Truth About Charlie" movie* with Mark Wahlberg and Thandie Newton, I may have never known who Charles Aznavour was.  But I'm thankful.  His music is great for a romantic evening.  😍

* FYI.  That Wahlberg/Newton film was a remake of a classic old movie, "Charade", a 1963 flick which starred two of my favorite actors from back in the day - Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant, which did not include songs by this popular French singer.  So the film remake actually added a nice touch!  Audrey Hepburn (1929 – 1993) is also on my list of Iconic Female Celebrities.  Love her too! 💟

I have several boards (over 50) and I've been trying to arrange them. I just tried a Pinterest feature that lets you arrange your boards: Alphabetical, Newest to Oldest, Oldest to Newest OR you can manually Drag and Drop your boards wherever! I may rearrange them again but for now, I think putting them in alpha order is best for visitors. I can see the boards in alpha order. What I want to know is:

Q1: How does a visitor to my Pinterest profile see them? Can you look at my Pinterest boards and tell me if you see them arranged in alphabetical order?

Q2: Is that feature available to allow a visitor to rearrange my boards the way they would like to see them? From New to Old, in Alpha Order, etc.

Stop the insanity! Keep Google+ Community posts off your profile. - The Social Media Hat (Reblog)

Don't Spam Yourself on Google Plus

Many newbies who have created a Google Plus profile or page are anxious to share their links in Google Plus communities. This is a good thing, mainly because the G+ community membership usually far outnumbers the followers you have in your social circles.

  • Google Plus limits the number of followers to 5000 for personal profiles. (See Side Note below.)

  • Whereas, I've seen some G+ communities with over 50,000 members. Thus, there is more opportunity for exposure and hopefully getting traffic to your website or blog, if you share links via the communities.

* Important Social Media Tip!*
When you share the same post in several G+ communities, you need to turn off the feature that allows your post to also show up in your public post stream. Otherwise, when people visit your G+ profile or page, they will see multiple entries of the same thing over and over and over. You actually give the impression that you're spamming yourself.  It's a common mistake for newbies to make.

I get my social media tips from Mike Allton, publisher of The Social Media Hat blog.

He says: Don't spam yourself!!

Then he explains how to stop the insanity.

● ● ●
Side Note: Mike Allton's G+ professional profile boasts over 186,000 followers. The business page or brand account associated with his website/blog, The Social Media Hat, has over 8,000 followers.

Google offers professional or business profiles (may or may not be for a price) and those profiles show that you can have more than 5K followers. I don't have the details. If you want to know more, search for “Google My Business”.

By the way: Have any of you ever seen spam in that many different varieties? I would love to try the Hot &Spicy.

Tumblr and Google Plus, Ink!

Tumblr is a blogging platform and social sharing site that is very easy to use.

Google Plus is a social network that is taking some getting used to but once you get the knack it can be lots of fun.

Tumblr knows that Google Plus communities have great potential so there is a Tumblr G+ community. This is an indirect route that is being taken to introduce others to an artist based in the Ukraine named Igor Amazonenco. He does ink portraits and his artwork is amazing!

CELEBRATING AUSTRALIA DAY!

"Australia Day is on January 26 and commemorates the establishment of the first European settlement at Port Jackson, now part of Sydney, in 1788.

On January 26, 1788, the First Fleet of 11 ships from Great Britain arrived at Port Jackson, which now forms Sydney Harbour. The First Fleet was led by Captain Arthur Philip. He established the Colony of New South Wales, the first penal colony in Australia. By 1808, January 26 was being celebrated as “First Landing Day” or “Foundation Day” with drinking and merriment."

Today is January 26, 2015 and it's Australia Day!  YAY!!

Oh?  UM ... is "YAY" an Aussie term?

I’m not Australian. In fact, I probably could not tell an Aussie accent from a Cockney accent.  But if you’d like to learn to speak “everyday Australian” here’s A Guide to Aussie Slang by fellow freelance writer, Talia J. She is from Australia. :)

So what if you may never ever travel to the Australian Outback or Queensland or Sydney!  Think of the fun you’ll have being able to talk just like Crocodile Dundee  (see below)!!
