My Best of Halloween Posts on G+ - Halloween ~ Thanksgiving ~Christmas!

Winding down the year of 2017. It has been a productive and profitable year for Home Business Works (formerly Cmoneyspinner's Home Business Projects).  Today is October 31st and this is the last post at My Blog Stop! for the month.  Thanks for visiting, reading, and subscribing.  There are 2 more months left in 2017.  Let's hope they are happy and peaceful.

My Best of Halloween Posts on G+ - Superstitions

"Another Halloween superstition occurred at midnight. That was the time when boys and girls went into the garden blindfolded and each pulled a cabbage (some claimed it was kale runts). Supposedly, the form of the cabbage head and its stalk denoted the physical peculiarities of the person’s future husband or wife. There was also a belief that if the roots tasted sweet or sour, it reflected the future spouse’s temperament."

Fun fact about holiday traditions during the 19th century gleaned from a link shared via Google Plus by Geri Walton.

Glad she shared.  Also glad it's not true!  ☺

Not related but of significant note, Ms. Walton is the author of "Marie Antoinette’s Confidante: The Rise and Fall of the Princesse de Lamballe". Just an FYI.

JACK AND DIANE (2012): Saturday night movie pick? Watch at your own risk.

OK. OK! I get it! It's an awful movie. I'm convinced. Not gonna watch it. Not into horror movies anyway. Growing up, every Saturday AFTER 11 o' clock was the night to watch creepy scary horror movies. It wasn't a rule of my parents. It was a television programming decision made by our local stations that we all abided by. These days, occasionally, like if it's the Halloween season, a horror flick will be on my watch list. If a thorough critique and review of a horror film is needed, this is was my GO TO blog, "Written in Blood". Everything you need to know about horror films and some stuff you didn't even know you needed to know! Glad to have this blog to help me decide whether my time will be wasted or not. :)  Saturday night movie pick?  Watch at your own risk.

The blog publisher's review of this film was sort of like my review of NOAH (2014).  That movie was awful!  So bad you feel compelled to warn viewers in advance.

* * Apologies.  The blog owners decided to unpublish his blog.  Movie is available on Amazon Video, if interested.

Saving grace for the viewer?  Hmmm? On the plus side, neither movie was bad enough to ruin the joy of munching on a bowl or a box of buttered popcorn

My Pick for Best of Halloween Spooky Scary Stories

In the mood for a really spooky scary story for #Halloween?

Or do you just want to know what human beings are capable of doing to other human beings?

This story is about an entire family who had an insatiable craving for consuming human flesh. The incidents happened circa 1400 A.D. They were finally brought to justice and executed.

Executed??!!  Can't believe they didn't have a lawyer to plead insanity as their defense. For sure, they were all basket cases!!

Halloween Movie : MANIAC COP (1988) ~ What's on Your Watch List?

Definitely out of the loop on this one. There's a Maniac Cop one, two and three, and I have yet to watch the first one!  It's a "late '80s urban horror/action" film and for me, the idea of a crazy cop is for real scary!  It's not at the top of my watch list.  But it is on my list.

Do you have a watch list of movies for Halloween?

Be My Valentine? Did You Say "My Religion is Love"?

Not your usual Valentine, I know.

But I think it's a perfect valentine.

So who was it that said “My religion is love”? Wasn’t it one of the sons of Bob Marley?

Ooops!  Looked it up.  My bad.  It was the title and song lyrics by Ziggy Marley that said "Love Is My Religion".  Close enough!

It was the late Bob Marley himself who said: "Overcome the devils with a thing called love."

I believe in giving credit where credit is due, but they were both just rewording the wisdom of Jesus.

No matter who you want to give the credit to, you would all be hard-pressed to say that it isn't a golden rule to live by!

SIDE NOTE:

~ Born: February 6, 1945, Nine Mile, Jamaica ~ Died: May 11, 1981, Miami, FL. Had he lived to see this day, the legendary reggae artist, Bob Marley would have been 70+ years old.  He and his music live on through his children.  They make sure of that!
Happy belated birthday, Mr. Marley!

July 30th is National Cheesecake Day in the USA

Who Cares Who Invented Cheesecake? I do!

Because I want to thank whoever it was that made this lusciously exquisite dessert possible for human consumption!! :)
According to Cheesecake.com, "The first "cheese cake" may have been created on the Greek island of Samos. Physical anthropologists excavated cheese molds there which were dated circa 2,000 B.C." I would just like to modify/paraphrase a quote borrowed from a memorable character as stated in a famous Charles Dickens' novel: "God bless them, each and every one!" :)
I very much agree with Anita Schecter, the lady who shared this recipe via Google Plus. Skip dinner! Go straight to the dessert! Many thanks to her also! :)
