Earn Extra Bitcoins or Cash Money Watching Videos (Hideout TV + Cointiply)

I binge-watch a lot of TV shows on streaming sites like Netflix and Viki.  I used to feel guilty about it.  But then I joined social blogging communities where you earn extra income to socialize and it has helped me relieve the guilt.  After I spend hours and hours watching a series I share it with my friends by writing a quick review and publishing it.  Can it get any better than this?

YES IT CAN!!!

Most of the time I watched videos at night just before going to bed.  But what if I could also watch or listen to videos during the day while I did my other work around the house?  You know what I mean.  Multi-tasking.  Guess what! 

Ever heard of HideoutTV? 

I earn just for watching videos.  I don’t have to write reviews or discussions or anything!  Although I do click the "Like" button every now and then to show my support.

This site is supported by advertisers. Some video creators use this platform as an alternative to YouTube or in addition to their YouTube channels.  I am not a content creator.  I am a video viewer.  The cool thing is that … as a viewer … I get paid to watch videos.  Yes.  I have to watch the ads.  Watch 3 ads and earn.  So what!  I watch commercials on TV and don’t earn a penny!

Here’s how it works for me.  You may have to arrange your set up a little bit differently.

• FIRST:  You have to create an account.  Sign Up is Free.  Whenever you watch videos, you must be logged into your account in order to earn money.

• SECOND:  I used to watch the videos on my laptop.  But the platform owners just recently created a FireTVapp so that viewers can watch the videos on TV.  Fortunately, my kids bought me a FireTV for a Christmas present.  So that I wouldn’t protest about them wasting money, they told me it was ON SALE!  Turns out, even when it’s not on sale, the Toshiba Flatscreen FireTV Edition is not really all that expensive.    So!  I downloaded the HideoutTv Fire TV app from Amazon.

• THIRD:  When I turn on the TV, I select the app, I sign in, start playing the videos, and multi-task. While the videos are playing, I can also work on my laptop or do other things.

• FOURTH: The most important question.  How do I get paid?

Well!  There are different ways to get paid.

HideoutTv is partnered with different “Loyalty Reward Partners”.  If you have an account with one of those Partners, that’s how you get paid.  You simply redeem your rewards through that Partner.

The Partner that I have an account with is Cointiply. I linked my Cointiply account to my HideoutTv account.  Whenever I want to redeem, I click the Rewards button and follow the prompts.

Cointiply is a Bitcoins rewards platform.  When I click the REWARDS button, the coins are instantly deposited into my Cointiply account.

You may balk and say:  “I’m not into cryptocurrency.”

You’re not.  But I am.  That’s why I linked my Cointiply account to my HideoutTv account.

I also linked my Bucksify account.  At this platform, you earn tokens (BXT) and then convert them into cryptocurrency.

These days I redeem Bucksify tokens as bitcoins.  Deposit the bitcoins to my Cointiply account.  Why?  Because Cointiply pays 5% interest on your crypto.  But Bucksify does not.

However, as I already said, HideoutTV has different Rewards Partners.  Find a Partner you like, that will pay you using the method of payment you like, and go with it!

For example:  I used to use Earnably. That’s one of the Partners.  They pay cash via PayPal.

Learn a part of American history that is practically unknown.

“The Feast of All Saints” is an adaptation of a book by Ms. Rice about people of color, not slaves but free, who lived in New Orleans, Louisiana during the 19th century.

When you hear the name Anne Rice, if you’re like most people you think of vampires. So I was rather surprised several years back when a miniseries was aired on television called the “The Feast of All Saints”. This miniseries is an adaptation of a book with the same title by Ms. Rice, published in 1979. It is historical fiction about people of color, not slaves but free, who lived in New Orleans, Louisiana during the 19th century. The series included many celebrated African-American actors whose work in the entertainment industry is well-known, such as Eartha Kitt, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, and Ben Vereen. The series also introduced other not-so-well-known actors of color like Gloria Reuben, Robert Ri’chard, and Nicole Lynn.

I have yet to read the book, but the televised series was excellent from start to finish and very educational. It shed light on a part of American history that is practically unknown.

Greek Mythology: The Harpies | Soul Snatchers Versus Soul Savers

I enjoy the study of mythology.  Not just Greek and Roman mythology but legends, folklore, and myths from all around the world.  The study affords me the opportunity to contrast and compare those beliefs to the teachings of Christianity.

For this discussion, I am sharing the results of a quick study about the harpy.  Are you familiar with the harpy (or harpies, plural)?

The word “harpies” means “snatchers”.  They were known as the hounds of Zeus.  In Greco-Roman mythology, the harpies were monstrous bird-like creatures with a woman’s face. Believers thought these creatures acted at the behest of the gods, carried out acts of vengeance, and were snatchers of human souls.

By contrast, in Christianity, harpies are not to be feared because they don’t exist.  Christians are taught to only revere and fear The One Who has the power to destroy humans, both their body and their soul.  Believers know that Jesus Christ acted according to the will of His Father; taught there is only one true God, not gods; and preached the good news of faith, hope, and love for the purpose of saving souls.

A Few Bio Facts About the Blog Publisher

Hello! Welcome!  It's another new year.  Thank you for visiting and reading my blog. Perhaps you might want to know a little more about the blog publisher, so I'll share a few biofacts.

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and left my childhood home in 1986 because of a job opportunity and have never been back. The likelihood of me ever getting a chance to revisit my place of birth is slim and none! More none than slim. So I decided to take a trip down memory lane via Google images.

I tried to find my childhood home. Sadly, the house I grew up is was torn down and the land it stood on was turned into a parking lot. That house wasn’t exactly paradise. But I never dreamed it would become a parking lot.

Next, I searched for the school that I attended 5th grade to 8th grade (from 8 years old to 12 years old). I found a very clear picture of the church building which is right next to the school. It was a Catholic school and mass attendance was required. It was also the building was where my 8th-grade graduation ceremony took place.

Incredible! The building looks exactly the same. Proof of life! Proof of MY life.

Looking at the photograph gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Consumer Electronics: Do You Have a Cool Gadgets Wish List?

“The name’s Bond.  James Bond.”  Who doesn’t love James Bond?  He’s a secret agent.  Everybody likes secrets.  Plus he’s handsome.  Definitely not hard to look at.  But what or rather WHO do people really love about Mr. Bond?  They love Q!  The guy who invented all of those cool gadgets that James Bond uses when he goes on a mission for Her Majesty’ Secret Service. Admit it.  Some of the most memorable scenes in the James Bond films is when he visits the Q Branch and he’s given a demonstration of the various types of gadgets he will be needing in order to successfully complete his assignment.

People love gadgets, don’t they?  After all, most people never grow up.  The child is always in their heart.  And what does a child love?  TOYS!!!  Kids love cool toys to play with and GADGETS ARE REALLY COOL TOYS!!

Most popular gadgets these days are not just toys though.  They’re used for serious purposes.  Not to accomplish a secret government operation.  But many gadgets either address home security and safety or they address one’s health, such as fitness trackers or other wearable technology.  Me?  I rather fancy entertainment-related gadgets with bluetooth technology.

Most gadgets these days are described as “SMART”.

One of the most popular gadgets selling right now is a small wireless smart camera that has night vision and a 2-way audio.  Another popular item is a smartwatch that tracks heart rates and other health indicators, and it has a lot of other apps.  You can even use it to call a cab!

American English: Everyday Words Not Used Every Day Until the 20th Century

There are many words we now use every day, that were not everyday words until the 20th century. I always enjoyed the cartoon called Road Runner. There were no spoken words in the animated episodes. Or so I thought. Come to think of it, there was one word and the Road Runner always said it twice. “Beep Beep!”

Mark Nichol published a list of “25 Words Coined by Twentieth-Century Authors”.

Did you know that the word “beep” was invented by a 20th-century scientist and novelist named Arthur C. Clarke? Since some of the words on Nichol’s list are related to technology, it’s no surprise they were unheard of until the 20 century. But the other nontech words are surprising to me and may surprise you too.

Entertainment: 6 Bollywood Films With An Awesome Soundtrack

These days video rental stores are practically nonexistent because of online video streaming. But three (3) decades ago, video rental stores changed my life. How so? The stores introduced me to foreign films and in particular, to Bollywood films. What’s so great about these Indian movies? The music! Yes, the dancing is awesome too. But you can’t have dancing without music. Right?

Many of these films have an awesome soundtrack. In fact, it’s fun to search YouTube just looking for the songs. There are lots and lots of films but these are my Top 6. Yes, 5 out of 6 are Priyanka Chopra-Jonas movies. I’m a huge PCJ fan.

The film is called “7” because the woman has seven husbands. Each time she marries, she is certain the man she chose will be her soulmate for life. It doesn’t work out and she conveniently becomes a widow, albeit she is never charged with any crime. In the end, she does find her soulmate. To be fair, the other six had it coming.

Two guys need to rent an apartment at a complex in Miami, Florida USA with one catch. They have to be gay. Crime and Punishment: Who Was William Kemmler?

Interesting History. In 1890 William Kemmler who butchered his wife to death was the first person to be executed by electrocution in the world. The day before the execution the electrical apparatus had been tested and successfully killed ahorse. Kemmler was strapped in the chair and 1000 volts of current was discharged through his body for 17 seconds. Unfortunately, Kemmler did not die, and so the current was doubled to 2000 volts and reapplied until his blood boiled and his skin scorched and he was truly dead.

Ever wonder what his last thoughts were?

Do you think he actually felt genuinely sorry for the life he had taken?

Culture: Book Lovers: First Impressions Can Be WRONG!

Have you ever put your prejudices and fears aside and found out that you would have missed out on something awesome?

It’s embarrassing to say, but I confess that this has happened to me more times than I count.

My first impression was WRONG!

Here is one indisputable example.

I am American and have lived in the USA all my life. If you live in America and particularly if you are a black American (African-American, Negro, colored … I don’t know which box to check anymore! LOL.) or rather a person of color (O.o), when you hear or see the word CONFEDERATE, you already have an expectation or an impression.

While browsing Instagram, I came across an account called confederatebooksquito.

My first reaction was to immediately turn off or turn away from it because .. well … it said CONFEDERATE. In plain English, ‘Dem iz fightin’ words!

But I turned off MY reject button in my head and went to have a look.

Turns out it’s a bookstore in Ecuador that specializes in used books in English in South America.

WHAT????  I love used books!!

Look what I would have missed if I had followed my first WRONG impression!!

Bet this never happens to you, huh?

Wisdom Quotes: John Bunyan Versus King Solomon

Although I understand the sentiment behind this quote I don’t wholly agree neither do I think it provides the best guidance or advice for life.

I prefer this proverb from King Solomon:

“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in your power to do it. Do not say to your neighbor, Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it—when you have it with you.” ~ Proverbs 3: 27-28

Good is DUE to everyone and everyone is your NEIGHBOR.

This way you do good and are always charitable without even considering repayment or nonpayment.

Get to Know the Blog Publisher With These 5 Random Facts

I have been publishing this blog for over 5 years and the stats say My Blog Stop! has over 1200 subscribers.  The thought has occurred to me that perhaps my readers may want to get to know me a little bit.  Well!  Here goes!

(1)  I’ve never been to heaven or Oklahoma.  But I do like The Beatles.  (I make corny references to songs and movies in a regular conversation all the time.  LOL.)

(2)  When I was about 7 or 8 years old, I misspelled a word once because I had copied the way my father spelled it.  My teacher marked me wrong and told me my father was WRONG!  I talked back to her … in defense of my beloved father …and was sent to the Principal’s office for being rude and discourteous.  (Although the principal laughed and said she understood because she knew my dad.  However, she still had to punish me because I couldn’t be allowed to get away with talking back to the teacher in front of the other students.  I took my punishment defiantly and proudly.  )  About 10 years later I visited my father’s country and what do you know?  That’s how they spell that word in his country.  So!  My dad was RIGHT!!  I felt so vindicated. LOL.  Wish I could have shown my teacher. 

(3)  Growing up in Miami, Florida, I experienced a lot of hurricanes.  The hurricanes did not upset me. What upset me was the fact that the names of the hurricanes were all FEMALE.  I never complained openly about it though.  But I guess somebody complained because when I got older they started giving the storms MALE names.  Hurricane Bob (1979) was the first hurricane with a man’s name.  (Fun Trivia) Bob was not a memorable storm.  Hurricanes Cleo and Camille KICKED BUTT!!  I remember them!

(4)  We have several video games in our house.  I have never played a video game.  Not by myself or with any of my kids.  I don’t know how to work the controllers.  LOL.

(5)  I had a father, 7 brothers, 1 husband and 5 sons and to this day, I do NOT know how to tie a necktie.  Frankly, since I wasn’t going to be wearing them, I never saw the need to learn.  Besides!  Why should I bother to learn?  They sell those clip-on neckties with the tie knot already done.    That was my flawless logic and I was sticking to it!  Then one day, one of my daughters said she was putting together an outfit that reflected her personality.  She asked if she could borrow one of her dad’s neckties and if I could help her tie it.  I didn’t see that coming!  She had to figure out how to tie that tie herself.  LOL.

Janice Wald is an award-winning blogger and her areas of expertise are blogging and social media. I follow her blog and I follow her on social media. She is very active on social media and all around the web, and when I see her name, I have to peek! She's simply irresistible. ☺

Her blog, mostlyblogging.com, is loaded with guidance, advice, tips, and tricks, etc.  Everything you need for successful blogging. While perusing the Quora Q&A website, I came across her response to a question - "Do You Blog Outside Quora?" - and that led me to the blog post below. (Treasure hunting is always good when you actually find treasure!)  

I was very interested in reading her review of Virily.com, as I joined this blogging community in June 2017.  It's 2018.  I'm still there.  But I was just wondering if she knew something about the site that I didn't know!  So many sites like Virily have come and gone in the blink of an eye!

How to Make Money from Virily and 6 More Revenue Sharing Sites

My “Two Cents” About Virily (and the other writing sites):

I am currently a very satisfied blogger in the Virily community. Member since June 2017. I was very hesitant to join. Got talked into joining so many communities just like Virily, only to be disappointed. But Virily has been a pleasant surprise. 

But now I'm like: “Uummm? Should I stay or should I go?” (O.o) LOL. I've been psychologically conditioned by the other sites to expect the site to disappear! But you know what? Right now. It's kind of fun! And it is proving to be profitable.

I think sites built using the revenue-sharing business model, i.e. that primarily rely on ad revenues to stay afloat, can survive. Two things are needed. Honest staff and loyal members. Both are absolutely necessary. Sad to say but my experience with other sites has been that the staff or management was not straight up! The members certainly didn't want the site to shut down!  That was evident!  

By contrast, I have found the Virily site owners, staff and management, to be very involved with the daily administration of the site; they respond to their messages promptly; they keep members apprised of significant changes, and they're based in Estonia. ☺  I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but if the folks from Estonia are as nice as these people, that country is now on my Travel and Vaction bucket list. ☺☺ 

Regards the other sites mentioned, in addition to Virly?

• Hubpages was recently acquired and is under new management. My HUBs are articles that are evergreen content and though the earning is slow, I do get paid. 
• Tried InfoBarrel and Snipsly. Had no success. Do not make your decision based on my experience.
• Started with Daily Two Cents when they started and have experienced the changes with this platform. I would recommend joining, although some of my friends did not like it. To each his own.  My experience has been good. 
• Seekyt was great but when the site changed owners, I deleted my content and left. Wish them success though.  The site looks lovely.

Virily's publishing module is not just for blogging.  You can create quizzes, polls, lists; shared embedded content and videos, as well as write.  It is a very lively social community.  It's like Facebook, only you can earn extra income for most of your social activity.  Just check their FAQ for details.  Below are links to some of my posts, supplied as examples to give you an idea of content that is considered acceptable.
