Cake Bake: Stewart versus Esteves - Throw Down!

American TV personality Martha Stewart is the most famous housekeeper / homemaker in the world. I would describe her as a “Phenomenal Businesswoman par Excellence”. Watched one of her shows one time and she was actually teaching her audience how to clean a dirty greasy frying pan! This woman took the mundane chores of housekeeping and homemaking on a Star Trek journey and boldly went places no woman had ever gone before. To the bank!!!
  • Martha Stewart's net worth at one time was reported at $300 million, per celebritynetworth.com. (Figured that must be an old report. So fished some more.)
  • A 2011 article published by abcnews.go.com, reported that Forbes.com reported her net worth at $638 million. (That's probably understated too, as of 2015.)

Anyway, getting to my real point - If you're not into baking from scratch like Martha Stewart, are you aware of the wonderful things that can be done with a cake mix? Isabelle Esteves shares her tips on how to enhance a basic cake mix.*

* NOTE: Ms. Esteves unpublished her content.  The replacement link is to another food blog.

Ms. Stewart teaches you how to make all sorts of wonderful culinary delights on from scratch on her Martha Bakes TV series. But why do that when the family and friends chowing down on my upside-down cake won't even notice the difference? Stewart versus Esteves? I'm in the Esteves corner.

Women in Business : Continued Support for Women-Owned Businesses ~ 2019 Forward

Back in August 2014, I shared information links that should have proved useful to women in business, particularly women-owned businesses. It's 2019 and I have been celebrating and honoring women all month long since March is Women's History Month. I wanted to reshare the link to my 2014 blog post and supply some updates. A lot can happen in 5 years.

My Aug 2014 Post:

UPDATES:

Press Release Dated April 20, 2018 | News | U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington ~ Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), urged continued support of the SBA/WBC (Small Business Administration’s Women’s Business Centers).  The action had to be taken because current POTUS wanted to cut funding for a program that is proving to be successful.

The President's FY2020 Budget was released during March 2019 and it appears there will be continued investment in the WBC. ~  The President’s Budget « CAMEO

Thank the Lord for women in politics who support women in business.

Reading real biographies is awesome!
But creating fake biographies sure sounds like fun!
This teacher suggests using a tool to study biographies differently.  The tool is called "Fakebook".  Just pretend you work for the CIA and you're making up a fake dossier. :)

4 Things Women in Business are Told (that Men aren't) | Project Eve

Worked a 9 to 5 job for several years in the corporate workplace and don't remember being told this, Also don't remember being doggedly pursued to be offered a management position. If you're going to be an executive perhaps that's when this type of advice is volunteered. Volunteered? Yes. The "4 Things" don't seem like advice that any working woman would actually ask for. If these tips were offered to me, my responses would be:

  • To Thing #1: Uuuhhh ... WHY?
  • To Thing #2: Uuuhhh ... WHY?
  • To Thing #3: You're telling me that? WHY?
  • To Thing #4: Uuuhhh ... WHY?

4 Things Women in Business are Told (that Men aren't)

The glass ceiling is still very much in place, there's still not equal pay, and women aren't sure if they should lean in or lean out. As a woman moving up the ranks in a business, starting her own company, or treading into executive territory, they're told some things that men never hear.
