Work From Home Advice: Finding the Path to Successful Affiliate Marketing

My path to affiliate marketing began several years back when I saw a write-up about an online entrepreneur who insisted he earned thousands of dollars in affiliate referral commissions. He also said it was really easy to do!

Another respected blogger I stumbled upon because I was looking for advice on how to make money from my websites, said that he was able to generate consistent income of about $5K per month via affiliate referrals.

There are many more success stories out there. Some can be found right here at Forum Coin.

Unfortunately, my success story has not made the headlines yet. But that’s not to say one day it won’t ever happen. Income from my affiliate advertising efforts has been earned sporadically and my goal of achieving consistent regular income has not yet been achieved. However, the fact that I was able to earn commissions is an indication (at least to me) that earning consistent income from affiliate marketing is a possibility. So I keep on keeping on.

Though it's been said before it bears repeating because newbies are constantly coming on board and trying to make money in the online world.

QUESTION: How does one pursue the path to successful affiliate marketing?

ANSWER: First figure out what the best products are FOR YOU to promote and what the best affiliate marketing programs are FOR YOU to join. It's not a "one size, fits all" formula. Then, of course, you need to figure out how to promote and where to advertise. There are several ways, however, building niche websites and social media marketing are proving to be the most effective ways for my “entrepreneurial adventures”. If you find something else that works FOR YOU, that's OK!

These articles are of interest to me and may be helpful for you too!

Affiliate Marketing 101: How To Find The Best Products To Promote (blogpress.com)

The takeaway tips from this article is that digital products are more profitable to promote and Clickbank is the best way to get started. You may beg to differ. But the advice was offered freely.

The Best Affiliate Programs and 24 Ways To Promote Them (smartbusinesstrends.com)

There are several programs listed in the section titled “Best Affiliate Marketing Programs” that will require further exploration on my part. Confess to not having any familiarity with any of these programs or the promotion techniques and methods suggested. Would not recommend for newbie marketers. (Just my opinion.)

Where To Advertise Affiliate Links (charliepage.com)

Three tips outlined that could be attempted even if you’re a beginner or newbie: (1) social media advertising; mainly via Facebook; (2) solo ads which the article writer describes as “100% affiliate friendly”; and (3) BuySellsAds.com which is especially good to use if your website gets traffic. (My opinion.)

How to Promote Affiliate Products On Your Blog (shoutmeloud.com)

ShoutMeLoud.com publishes a free newsletter. Become a subscriber and you will have no regrets. Their advice is invaluable. At the end of this post there is a “Bonus Tip” and a quick list of marketing tips for 2016 and beyond!

How to Promote Affiliate Products without a Website and Make Money (trustiko.com)

Saved the best for last. This is the post that interested me the most because most say you need a website or a blog. But this site mentions the Yahoo Gemini ad system and incorporates links to two more informative articles – one to top rated affiliate programs and another with tips on how to make money using Pinterest.

None of these articles mentioned the actual words “dogged persistence”.

But when you read them you know it’s implied.

Alexandria's Alternate Endings to Portions of England's History

Are you a history buff or maybe just a person who thinks it would be cool to rewrite history with your own alternate ending?  Perhaps you could fix things up so that the Titanic and the sister ship that came after, Britannic, would not both sink!! (Yes. I know it's American history. Trying to make a point here! Just stay with me on this. :) )

Meet Alexandria Ingham.

Alexandria Ingham

Passionate educated historian with a degree in Computer Science and a self-described "writerolic".

She contributes articles to various sites and is publishing a series under a general umbrella title "Alternate History" via Wizzley.com. She is re-writing parts of the history of England, if you're interested. Below are links to two examples of her interesting "What If" scenarios. Curiously enough, the thoughts had actually crossed my mind.

Alternate History: What If Mary I Had a Child?

by AlexandriaIngham There are so many what ifs in history, and I'm continuing my alternate history series after a long break. I'm focusing on Mary I today, with a look at how history could have changed if one of those phantom pregnancies turned out to be real.

My Medium Progress Report ~ As of March 2019

A couple of years ago, I shared a post at this blog about my experience with Medium.com. (“My Medium Round Up ~ Article Contributions”) The main attraction of this site was the fact that it accepts republished content. It's now 2019 and nothing has changed in this regard. The site still accepts republished content. The change is that the site has implemented a Partner Program. The goal of this program is to allow the writers to earn some revenue for their contributions to Medium.

With the exception of one article that was republished after the implementation of the program, all of my articles are not available for the paywall. The article that I republished was dated March 9, 2019, “The Origin of Brutal Regimes” and is “eligible to be part of the metered paywall”. I opted in to allow that. An article contributor can opt out. Even though I opted in, I realized after reading the additional details that can only earn money if I am in the Medium Partner Program

Guess what? I JOINED!!
Hope the MPP proves to be a consistent income stream.

Where to Find Work at Home Advice, Tips and Tricks

The "cottage industry" (like Etsypreneurs) is not a creation of the 20th or 21st centuries nor did "home-based businesses" come about because of the invention of the Internet. While most of my work at home initiatives are focused mainly on writing and blogging, and affiliate marketing, there are many profitable projects people can do, working from their home. Home-based businesses or working from home was and still is very common.

I have several boards (over 50) and I've been trying to arrange them. I just tried a Pinterest feature that lets you arrange your boards: Alphabetical, Newest to Oldest, Oldest to Newest OR you can manually Drag and Drop your boards wherever! I may rearrange them again but for now, I think putting them in alpha order is best for visitors. I can see the boards in alpha order. What I want to know is:

Q1: How does a visitor to my Pinterest profile see them? Can you look at my Pinterest boards and tell me if you see them arranged in alphabetical order?

Q2: Is that feature available to allow a visitor to rearrange my boards the way they would like to see them? From New to Old, in Alpha Order, etc.

Social Media Marketing Advice : Use Twitter to Share Affiliate Referral Links

Social networks may have originally been intended for socializing, but if you are a business or a self-employed individual with an online presence ~ you must know the importance of using social media for your business efforts.

Anybody who tweets for business and income purposes knows that Twitter is an important tool to have in their social media marketing kit; especially if you are an affiliate marketer. Twitter allows account holders to tweet affiliate referral links. But did you know that according to Clickbank “99% of the affiliate marketers on Twitter have zero idea how to market correctly”

I humbly confess to being among the 99%. But I happily admit to not being guilty of using the methods described in the CB article. Whew! My ignorance did not go that far.

My first Twitter account (@cmoneyspinner) was created April 2012. It was not used for affiliate advertising even though I had become an authorized affiliate for several vendors. Why? I didn't know how. (O.o)  Years passed and as I learned more about how to use Twitter, I learned that "Twitter users are big online buyers" AND multiple Twitter accounts are allowed

Following the advice of SMM experts, I created a few niche accounts and began using those accounts for affiliate marketing purposes. My niche accounts were created to advertise/market affiliate products for:

How do I use Twitter for affiliate marketing purposes?

Two methods: indirect and direct.

INDIRECT: I create webpages suggesting affiliate products at sites like Wizzley and Webnuggetz; and publish my own websites / blogs : Everyday Exotic Spices, Insurance Mart and Insurance Smart, My Shopping Channel, and Go Shopping Bees. Then I tweet the post links.

DIRECT: Since affiliate links are allowed, using RSS feeds for affiliate products provided by the vendor and automation tools like dlvr.it and Google Feedburner, tweets are posted to the various accounts. Also, I manually compose specific tweets. Tweets can be created manually either as text; text with photo, video or GIF; or as a poll.

Using both of these methods keeps my tweet stream flowing.

Below is the first tweet ever composed using Twitter's POLL CREATION feature for affiliate marketing purposes.

Twitter is one tool in my social media marketing kit that has proven to be invaluable.

You Can Earn Income From Writing

I am active in various Facebook Groups and Google Plus communities which share blogging and writing tips and tricks, work at home advice, etc.

One question that pops up consistently is:
  • What are the best sites to earn from your writing?

The question would be a lot easier to answer if everybody agreed on one uniform definition for “best”.

My idea of “best” might be another person's idea of “mediocre” because the particular sites that I think are terrific don't really suit the other person's criteria for making money consistently and achieving their financial goals.

So the “best” that I can do is say the best sites that have worked for me.

perfect gift for teacher, students, professor, business man, writer, blogger

Forum CoinPostloop, and MyLot are social sites and/or forums that have paid me consistently.  The easiest way to earn at these sites is to just be active.  If you are active on social media and earn nothing; then you can be socially active at these sites and get paid for it.

My HUBs or articles published at HUBPages generate income.  As do my pages and posts at WizzleyWritedge, and Daily Two Cents.  The income is earned mainly via a Google Ad Sense revenue-share plan.  Publish evergreen content at these sites and then let the content generate residual income, while you work on other writing and blogging projects.

Medium is a site I use mainly to share republished content and redirect traffic to my primary income-earning websites. However, if you are a good writer you might be able to make good money if you sign up for their Medium Partner Program. I have not signed up as yet, but here is what someone else has said about their experience.

Listverse is another writing opportunity: Write & Get Paid $100. Sound too good to be true? It's true! I checked.

However, at this point, Medium and Listverse are on my To Do List.  I need to work up the courage up to submit my work. The competition is overwhelming and I'm terrified of rejection. I just need to get over it!

Anyway! Don't let my fear hold you back! If you've got the confidence and the skills ... Go for it!

Another potential income opportunity that I have yet to embrace is selling articles. I am at SEOClerks (a forum I joined via Postloop) where I see people selling their articles. I haven't tried it, but if they can make money from selling articles, why not me?  This is an income-avenue to be explored in the future.

FINAL POINT:
There are all kinds of writing opportunities out there and newsletters or blogs one can subscribe to for opportunities. I subscribe to Freedom With Writing. Check out this post: 38 Blogs that Pay Writers $50+ for Guest Posts.

Hope you found this post informative.

Tumblr vs Blogger: The Blogging Face-off | BrandYourself (Reblog)

"In a matchup of Blogger vs Tumblr, who wins?"

Adding my "extras" to this very informative article published by BrandYourself.com, an online reputation management service.

The article writer starts off examining the traffic ranking as a measure of popularity among users and the difference between Tumblr and Blogger, i.e. the intended purpose for the platforms; and ends up by basically saying: “Eh! So what!”  In other words, the results of a comparison of popularity and purpose yielded no significant lines in the sand to be drawn, in order for the two to challenge each other and say “I dare you to step over this line!”

Moving on from there, the writer decided to contrast and compare the sign-up process, the dashboard interface, and customization and basically I ended up thinking: “Eh! So what!” (O.o)

* The BY article writer concluded that Tumblr is the victor.

* My conclusion is that there is no need for a face-off.  These two platforms can fit together like a hand in a glove.  They're both winners!

First, everything stated in the BY article is spot on. It's all true true true. (In my humble opinion and to the best of my knowledge.)  Even though our conclusions are worded differently, in essence, we actually both agree.

I just want to add a few "finishing touches" to the contrasts and comparisons that were presented.

Blogger or Blogspot is not an original Google product (i.e. was not developed in-house) and Google clearly does not place a high priority on enhancing and improving it. But that's OK. Because I'm perfectly fine with the platform. I can work with it! So send prayers to the Google tech god and ask that this free and easy-to-use platform not be eliminated from the free set of webmaster tools offered to Google account holders.  We have to pray.  We know what happened to Google's attempts at creating a social networks before Google Plus. Blogspot is a great platform for newbie bloggers and for experienced bloggers who really know how to “whip it!” (i.e. make good use of it). I've seen some really beautiful blogs published using the Blogspot platform.

Some people may think the Tumblr platform was only started for people who love porn.  LOL.  I don't know what David Karp had in his mind but I will say that for whatever reason he utilized his creative genius, the final product is an inimitable blogging and microblogging platform that is awesome!  Really!  I have tried to find Tumblr alternatives and the platforms may come close, but they can not take the place of the original.  Alas, Mr. Karp maintained a little bit of control when YAHOO acquired Tumblr but finally in 2017 Karp resigned and turned over the reins to the new management after the company was purchased by Verizon.  I have been an active Tumblr user for several years, and even though the company has changed ownership, the platform itself has pretty much remained the same.  It can be used for blogging (the same way most people use Blogspot) and for microblogging (the same way most people use Twitter) or both.  It is super easy-to-use and there is a Tumblr Help Center, if you have questions.  If bloggers cannot find answers, the Tumblr Staff can be contacted.

So in response to "In a matchup of Blogger vs Tumblr, who wins?", my answer is:

It's a tie. A very nice tie. ☺

Scoop.it, the Perelman Premise and GOLD!

“Content is king, distribution is queen, and she wears the pants”.  ~ Jonathan Perelman, Veep of Agency Strategy at BuzzFeed.

Scoop.it works off the Perelman premise.
~ You curate the content.
~ They help you distribute it.

Scoop.it is a D.I.Y. content curation tool that helps you organize, publish and circulate content; including random content.  Launched in 2011 and within a year and a half, 75 million users had signed up.

Several years back, someone invited me to try Scoop.it - a content curation tool. In an effort to try to keep up with ever-changing information technology and because no fee was involved, decided it was a tool worth testing. My initial efforts resulted in the creation of three topics.

My first tests included using the interface to my blogs. If you publish a “scoop” or write a post at Scoop.it, you can share it to your blog simultaneously or at a later date. If you are on the Google Plus social network you can also share your content there also.

There is a free plan and an upgraded plan. With the upgrades, you can add more social accounts and/or blogs.

Must confess that my activity has been limited because other work-at-home projects which have been consuming my time and energy. But for the new year, decided to add Scoop.it as a priority task on my “To Do List” for 2016 and pick back up where I left off.  That turned out to be a good home business management decision. To my surprise, one of my topics has leveled up to GOLD!! It was quite a surprise when they gave me a silver ribbon. But GOLD??!! That type of recognition and support is very encouraging.

The Scoop.it content curation service has too many plusses to list, but here are a few you should consider:

+1) Links from the site are recognized by the search engines.

+2) The site owners have an informative blog loaded with tips and advice.

+2) It's a great sharing tool and also good for research.

+4) The interface to blogs or pages streamlines your work process and saves time.

Online Writing Communities : HUBPages Earnings Can Be Inherited

A while back I read a complaint that someone had passed away but that the site was still earning income from the deceased writer's articles.

First of all, though that may sound not quite “kosher”, there's actually nothing wrong or illegal with doing that. If the writer did not make any provisions for the account to be transferred to a “beneficiary” then earnings go to the site owners. Who else?

Today, however, I found this detailed information that made it plain what the site's policy and procedures are. If you happen to be a HUBPages Contributor, “Your HUBPages Income Can Be Inherited”.  This is not "my story".  It is the journey of another HP Contributor, Amy (Happymommy2520).  If you're interested in my journey, see the links below.

Appreciate the clarification. Good to know and good to know what to do with my HUBs. The content is evergreen and my HUBs do earn income, slowly but surely. There's no need to delete them after I'm gone.  No doubt the residual income would be welcomed.
